I Remember You Used to Drive That Crappy Blue Chevy Nova, What Are You Driving Now? Same Crappy Blue Chevy Nova 23 May 2013
By James N Simpson - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
To be honest if you take this one out of the packaging it is unlikely too many, if anyone visiting your house at all upon seeing your light blue weather beaten 68 Chevy Nova will have any idea this is from Beverly Hills Cop. But it does come in a nice blister pack that unlike your standard mass produced Hot Wheels car can stand upright on a desk, shelf or wherever you display it without needing to lean up against a wall or something. The imagery could have been better with Eddie Murphy as Detective Axel Foley, in the old video cover/movie poster pose but then again he was sitting on a red Mercedes in those posters, which was driven by the character Jenny Summers. This blue Chevy Nova was of course Axel Foley's car he drove to Beverly Hills from Detroit and stood out as out of place in the wealthy suburb. This blister card does have the same word logo of the film on it, in front of some palm trees which possibly could be in Beverly Hills.

Since I'm keeping mine in the blister pack there is no way to know if the driver's side door on this 1/64 scale replica has the same massive dent that the one in the film does as Mattel have placed this car in the blister pack facing to the right. The seats and interior in this replica are black, but in the film they were a light blue/grey colour. The faded and weathered light blue showing the white underneath paint job looks pretty much the same as the one in the film. The white vinyl I suppose roof looks less weathered on this Hot Wheels version though. The headlights on the front grill are also smaller on the toy vehicle but the rest of the grill is fairly similar. The Hot Wheels car is also missing the windshield wipers and radio aerial but to be fair no Hot Wheels cars have these and very few cars across all brands and manufacturers, even the ones more geared towards adult collectors have these two things either. Unfortunately there's no number plates on this version, in fact the whole back of the 1/64 version is in a lot better condition (it actually looks new) than the beat in look of the one in the film. The Hot Wheels car has completely different hubcaps to the film, these inverted ones are the reverse of the movie's ones which stick out like a pyramid (of the wheels that had them at all).

But even with those differences or lack of detail I still really like this one. I'd love for Hot Wheels bring out a version of the truck at the start of the film that went on the rampage with Axel in the trailer to the soundtrack song The Heat is On, but I doubt that will ever happen.
I love it! 28 Mar. 2015

This is probably my favorite movie car in my collection so far. Its just like the movie. The paint is kinda faded and if you've watched the movie you know how Eddie treated this car lol
