Sweet summer songs,
By Last Goodbye (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In Between Dreams (Audio CD)
Jack Johnson is my favourite discovery of the summer. All his songs are based around an infectious guitar rhythm and melody, of the kind that sticks in your head forever! They're upbeat, mellow, thoughtful and radio-friendly, so you'll no doubt hear his singles being played more and more. His lyrics are great, meaningful but very sing-along too. I only had to hear 'Good People' on the radio before I knew that I liked Jack, and that song is a good guide to what you'll find on this album. There are no duff tracks on it, and I never find myself skipping any of them; the album-only songs are just as good as the singles. 'Staple It Together' is funky, nod-your-head music, whereas 'Better Together' is a nice gentle intro that strolls along at an easy pace. The live version of 'Mudfootball' (featuring G. Love and Donavon Frankenreiter) is a great ending to a great album. It's just perfect for playing on hot summer days, and no doubt for reminding you through the winter that there are warmer days to come! If you need a lift, I suggest you listen to Jack Johnson. You won't be disappointed. Good packaging and sleeve booklet too, including all the lyrics. Definitely worth every penny, and 5 stars too.

In between Dreams,

This 3rd offering from Jack Johnson is more accessible than his previous albums and the catchy rhythms and hooks will have you humming the melodies for weeks afterwards. Not as intimate as his other work and no stand out track to rival cocoon on his on and on album, all the tracks are of a consistent standard. Buy it enjoy it, you will still be playing it a year from now.

He just can't make a mistake,

In my opinion every Jack Johnson album has been pretty samey, but everytime its perfect. This is a perfect CD to forget that you live in overcast Britain to. A combination of melodies perfect for knodding your head to and a voice that every acoustic artist should wish for before they go to bed. This is an amazing cd, with the exception of Belle, which could have been forgotten. It's hard to pick out better tracks, because as with the other two albums every song has the potential to be a hit. Advice.....Just buy it, its £9, and its beautiful, plus im yet to meet someone who has heard jack and isn't a fan. Its music for everyone. Its hard to trust the word of a complete stranger, but if you buy it and you dont like it, listen to it again, you'll realise the brilliance of it.
