After ten long years one of the great soul voices is back with an absolute belter of an album. Matching a classic voice to modern sounds Betty has come up with an album that stands with her best and if there is any justice will walk off with a good few awards. The groove on the opening track is so reminisent of Pain on her Sevens CD you'd be forgiven for thinking they were recorded back to back BUY THIS

An absolutely BRILLIANT album - one of the best I've heard in years. This is one of those albums which you just end up playing again and again and again - it's very addictive!

There has been absolutely no airplay, no promotion and no videos. It's unlikely to sell in any significant quantities. But it shouldn't mater, cos the tunes are so damn good that people will eventually get round to this one eventually.

I will have to come back later with a fuller review, but I've listened to this whole album twice now and I am just blown away. These so-called young soul and neo-soul singers should use this album as an educational tool to see how it's really done. This is one of the best albums I've heard all year regardless of genre (and I listen to all types of music). Betty Wright's voice is simply amazing and has lost none of the luster it had some nearly 40 years ago. You can call her the "Godmother of Neo-Soul." Buy this album! You won't be disappointed.

I wasn't sitting around all year saying,"when is Betty Wright coming out with a new album?" and neither was anybody else except Betty Wright and the Roots. I am so glad they did. Betty Wright:The Movie is simply one of the best of 2011. Her voice is incredible. I had forgotten how great of a singer she is. The Roots continue to show that R&B needs real instruments and real musicians. The album sounds as if Betty was standing there, singing in front of a live band. The song writing is so good. I was really transported back in time, not because it sounds old but because it sounds so good. Too many of our modern Soul/R&B acts spend so much time trying not to sound old that they miss out on sounding good. Thank you Betty Wright for making music that sounds good, it's kind of hard to find nowadays.

I love both Betty Wright and The Roots, but since I wasn't very fond of The Roots' collaberation with John Legend, I didn't hold much hope for this release. I couldn't have been more wrong. This album is FANTASIC. I downloaded it yesterday and I literally cannot stop playing it. I definitely recommend it for Betty Wright fans, Roots fans and any fan of real, authentic soul music.
