5.0 out of 5 stars They were never such devoted sisters! 6 April 2006
Format:Hardcover
Betty Driver M.B.E. is best known for her role as Betty Turpin on Coronation Street since 1969. Her life before is just as interesting. She reveals herself but not a trash tell all. She lives with her beloved sister, Freda, In Cheshire. They have been the best of friends and companions for many years. Betty is a living legend who remember Coronation Street from the old days of Ena Sharples and Annie Walker. Finally she writes her book about her life. It's well written and interesting and I don't mind paying full price for it at all. Betty, congratulations on your MBE, it's very well deserved.

What a great read! From her early life on the stage through to Coronation Street as Betty Williams, this is a heartwarming, enjoyable and at times amusing book from a true legend of the entertainment field.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a Driver 17 Sep 2012
Format:Hardcover
This is not a trip around Coronation Street, an idea that may not be popular with some. Miss Driver is part of our entertainment industry, including films, radio starting in the thirties, and work with and for the armed forces during WW2. She had domestic problems due to a harridan of a mother and a surprising choice in husbands. So if you are a student of variety etc, then this excellent book will dot a few 'i's' and cross a few 'T's'. A very enjoyable read.
