If I was going to keep just one cookbook, from the many cookbooks I own, this would be it! The ringbinder is a brilliant idea; easy to take the recipe with you to purchase the ingredients. It has recipes for the holidays as well as organised dividers that lists the recipes included in that specific section. I have not been disappointed with any of the recipes I have tried, far from it! Family and friends thoroughly enjoy the food, including lots of great American classic dishes. GREAT BOOK - BUY IT - YOU WON'T BE SORRY.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it! 27 Jun 2007
By Carolyn E. Monroe - Published on Amazon.com
My mom bought this for me as one of my wedding shower gifts. I've used her mother's Betty Crocker cookbook from the 50/60's for years. This one has great pictures to show every type of vegitable, pasta, and cut of meat you can imagine. This edition has all the best recipies from the old book with calorie/carb/fat counts and a whole bunch of bonus features. If you're just learning to cook and want something that explains why certain things work together in recipies so you can have the skills to pull things together on your own, this is the book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good For The Basics. 9 Mar 2007

I mainly utilize the internet for my recipes, but every now and then when I know that my recipe is simple and just can't remember, "Was that baking soda or baking powder that I need?" I like being able to just flip it open. I do like the nice ideas for the holidays. I also LOVE that it is available in a 3-ring binder. My last copy was a softback and I had a rubberband holding the cover and pages in, for years. So, I suppose, there is no surprise here. I think it would be a great First cook book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Betty Crocker is the Best! 15 Feb 2014

This is a great cookbook for the beginning cook to the experienced chef. I have been using Betty Crocker cookbooks for over 30 years. It has always been an old stand-by. When my first Betty Crocker cookbook wore out, I felt lost without it. I ordered a replacement and have enjoyed it's recipes ever since I had Home Economics class in high school.
