I bought two of these - one for the top of the stairs and one for the bottom... They need to be fitted really carefully and securely as they tend to work themselves loose over time... Mine seem to work fine one minute and then a few days later they do not autoshut (which is a safety hazard) and on one occasion my son managed to open it and fell down two steps to the half landing! I have found they need to be tightened regularly to stay secure.

Not having found a lot of options for pressure fit safety gates for a narrow door frame, we decided to go for this one to turn the baby's room into a secure playspace.
Spent about an hour trying to fit it correctly, didn't find the instructions very helpful. One of the nuts didn't fit properly, but managed to solve that problem with a bit of grease. After everything installed, we found that the door wasn't locking, but after some brainstorming found that the pressure screws weren't turned as long as they should, so the lock didn't have enough tension to close.
Now that it is correctly fitted, it seems to be a sturdy gate. It's faily easy to open with one hand, although you have to lift the whole door. The autolocking function works really well, but it's a bit annoying when you need to keep going in the room (easily solved with a shoe to hold the door open).
All and all, happy with the purchase, but would definitely benefit from a better set of instructions. Be sure not to install it after a long work day, will need all the patience you can get.
