I bought Betraying Nexus because I had read the Pheonix Conspiracy and I was tired of waiting for the sequel - I wish I hadn't bothered.

Sadly the quality of writing and plot that I enjoyed in the Pheonix Conspiracy was not evident in Betraying Nexus. This felt like a story written by a teenager, the characters were two-dimensional and not very believable. Now I come to think about it the way to 'betray Nexus' doesn't really stand up - I don't want to give the plot away to anyone who buys this so I won't say any more.

Come on Richard, stop writing short stories and give us the sequel to the Pheonix Conspiracy - that was a good book that I really enjoyed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good SF short story 5 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a short story of around 700 locations taking round an hour or two to read. It is well written, appears to be proffesionally edited, and the story is original and intriguing. Because it is so short the scope for development is limited and this is the only complaint I have against it, that along with the price for such a short piece.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not too sure 31 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've never read a short story before so I didn't know what to expect. Obviously there is no great detail otherwise it would be a full book but certain parts seemed rather rushed and totally lacking detail. I'll keep an open mind for future short stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging & Well Written 29 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is one of the most engaging short stories I have read recently - I got through it in one evening as it drew me in entirely and I was itching to reach the conclusion. Although I also feel that a full length novel could have been written about the nefarious activities of Nexus however I thoroughly enjoyed the story as it stands. Richard Sanders novel Phoenix Conspiracy, also available on Amazon, is also packed with intrigue and well worth a read. Hope to see more from this author very soon as he is fast becoming one of my favourites :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Not his best work 21 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
You can see from this book the potential this writer will later bring into his later work (phoenix crises series) but in this book, its raw, I wasnt able to finish it as it jumped about alot and there wasnt enough scene setting or detail and it was actually difficult to keep track of everything as the facts were thrown at you and you had to catch them

A very short story that reads well but is just too hasty for a higher mark, but it was free

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay
Hmm, it's okay. Not the best book by far but it is only a few pages. As a whole it could have been filled out a lot more.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good short story
A well written short story that could have easily been expanded on to make a great full length book, which I would be more than happy to buy

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good read
It's hard to pick a free book as there are so many with unknown authors. This book is short but it is a fast paced story of love, duty and social standing.
