Book Description

What would you do to save your people from extinction? What if your race held the key to mankind’s future? One Guardian will risk hell to change the future.

Descended from the race of Guardians, Turen’s people have survived the last two hundred years, quarantined and isolated. Living in secrecy with no mates and no offspring, they fail to deliver on their ability to replenish and heal human souls through the birth of their Guardian children. Risking his life, Turen chooses capture at the hands of a comrade-turned-enemy to seek answers to change the future.

Mia Bowman has no knowledge of the secret Guardian race. Yet, her uncontrollable, nocturnal summons to Turen’s prison cell and her strong sense of justice leave her with little choice but to help him. She can heed his warning and stay clear of his people’s problems or she can ferret out the lies and unravel an ancient tale of murder and deceit. It will take an ultimate sacrifice to stop the unexpected evil and reverse a fatal ending to the Guardian line.

A race of beings created in a Sanctum at the far edge of Eden. Co-existing with mankind, they safeguarded human souls and the promise of eternity—until a virus killed all over the age of eighteen. The surviving children fled to the Sanctum for protection, children raising children without the full legacy of their history and knowledge. Two hundred years of solitude have produced a race of semi-immortals fortified with powers and intellect but lacking the mates who will make them whole and allow them to fulfill their covenant with mankind.

Betrayals Shadow: I absolutely loved this book. I read an immense amount(about 2 books a day when work and life allow) and am always in need of finding new author while i wait for my faves to release new books and boy did i find a new author.

I downloaded this because the description sounded like something a little bit different. I love that it was a free read because i find it always lets me try new authors without the fear of wasting money if they are not my thing or are terrible. NO worries in this case.

I found the book was a little bit different to many of the others i read. It was no less interesting gripping or emotional but was a different type of PR. It wasn't about shifters, vampires or witches ( not that i don't love these) but a completely different concept.I'm not going to outline the story line because i think you should read it for yourself. The book is descriptive but not too much that you find yourself bored with it and want to actually get to the story, and if things are not crystal clear at the beginning they evolve with Mia's knowledge which actually makes it easier to relate to (as much as you can to a PR anyway)and adds to the overall connection to the story. There were no glaring editing problems like in some Kindle reads and the writing style was easy to follow and immerse yourself into.

I am gong to buy the others in the series and will look at other works by KH LeMoyne, and will definitely have a LeMoyne collection on my kindle (not something that all authors get!!)

I hope you enjoy it if you read it too.

    3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay 15 Jan. 2014

This book took me a few tries to get past the first, 50%. It built slowly, there was a great deal of the author telling me how strong, independent and interesting the main female character was, but not an awful lot of proof to it, (I found myself disagreeing quite heftily) and it was flat-out pretty boring. However, I'm glad I made it past the first half, because things did pick up. Ironically, because so much happened in the last part of the book, it seemed a little rushed, with underdeveloped story lines and too many characters thrown in the mix to get a proper feel of them.
All in all, it's not a bad book, but I won't be rushing to get the next one in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book 19 May 2014

I did enjoy this, it was a bit different to other supernatural stories, it was well written and had been well thought out. I did find myself quite confused in the beginning, there were chapters from different people's perspectives and I was a bit lost but as the story went on, it did become clear. I did find it a bit slow in the beginning too, but once things got going, it moved along at a decent pace. I liked both of the characters and it was nice that there was some getting to know one another time before things escalated into a relationship of sorts. I will probably continue reading the series, I'd like to see what happens to the others mentioned

    5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected 24 Nov. 2013

I really enjoyed this book, it's a gripping tale of love, honour, courage and above all survival, with lots of twists and turns, exposed truths and secrets uncovered, it was full of suspense and kept me hooked from the start.

The story focuses on the developing relationship between the two main character's Turen and Mia. Turen, one of the few remaining Guardians of Eden, a society charged with protecting the human soul but following a viral outbreak which wiped out most of their society, they trust no-one and have taken to hiding themselves from everyone including humans, he has been imprisoned by his former friend and ex leader, Xavier, a man very broken by the murder of this wife and unborn child. Mia has removed herself from society, living in isolation, nursing her broken pride following the death of her cheating husband. When she starts to have nightmares of a dark cavernous place and a man who is clearly being tortured, she terrified, but when she realised that this is not nightmares and she is actually teleporting to his location, she feels even more terrified, yet despite the danger and the fact that this man scares her, she is drawn to him and feels compelled to help him. He doesn't trust her motives at first but when she keeps appear in his cell each night; she starts to become the only thing in the world that offers him hope. A sweet tale with a whole lot of punch.

One tip though if your ebook opens on the page chapter one, skip back a page to the definition of the Covenant, I missed it and spent the whole book feeling like I missed the first chapter where it explained who the Guardians of Eden where, only to discover it was there all along. What can I say; I'm a girl who likes the details..

4.0 out of 5 stars A great read -highly recommended 15 Oct. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I just wanted to second the other reviewers in that for a free read this is a brilliant book. It's full length (or what I consider full length at 300 pages), descriptive of characters (sometimes characters can appear 2 dimensional /flat in some books -this isn't the case), plot (various plots unfolding but not over-overwhelmingly so), world building (good historical background building of both characters pasts as well as cultural background etc)

There is a mystery to solve, a band of warriors with different skill sets caught in the middle. The reader is led to follow and watch the story unfold for Mia and Turen.
I liked that Mia was feminine but strong, a go-getter but not pushy, kind but not gullible, and Turen was comfortable in his masculinity and didn't need to do the whole "me Tarzan you barbie" routine. Nor was it "me superman you Lois Lane" so she didn't suffer from "come save me" syndrome.

I really liked the heroine, a real positive representation for the female gender. She was intuitive, aware of her weaknesses and set about to correct them, and the ones she couldn't she worked with.
Turen was as I said before not the typical alpha male, he wasn't running rough-shod over anything female, or anything vaguely questioning his authority and I really liked that about him. He didn't fly off the wall with anger issues (like a baby throwing its toys out the pram) or swear like a brigand, but actually went through situations logically and with a calm head whilst maintaining his air of control and sexiness. (A must in any romance book)

Also for a free read the grammar, spelling etc was fine, I didn't spot anything when I was reading the book and I know that sometimes that can be annoying.
