Book Description

1 Mar 2012

Tallie Jones is a Hollywood legend. An ambitious and passionate film director, her award-winning productions achieve the rare combination of critical and commercial success. But she has little interest in the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles, instead focusing intently on her work and family.

She has close, loving relationships with her daughter, her elderly father and Hunter Lloyd - her co-producer and partner of four years. Completing her trusted circle is Brigitte Parker - Tallie's best friend and devoted personal assistant. They've been friends since film school, and Brigitte's polished glamour and highly organized style provides a perfect balance to Tallie's casual appearance and down-to-earth approach to life.

However as Tallie is in the midst of directing her most ambitious film to date, small disturbances start to ripple through her faultlessly ordered world. An audit reveals worrying discrepancies in her financial records, which have always been maintained by her trusted accountant, Victor Carson. Receipts hint at activities of which she has no knowledge. Someone close to Tallie has been steadily helping themselves to enormous amounts of her money. Her once safe world of trusted associates is suddenly shaken to its very core - and Tallie is in shock, trying to figure out who has betrayed her among those she trusts and holds dear...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Written Novel 1 Mar 2012
By ACB (swansea) TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Danielle Steel has written another page-turner. Try and put it down. Tallie Jones is a famous and ambitious film director in Los Angeles. Unusually, her focus is equally on her close-knit family rather than just the glamour of her profession, although totally dedicated and committed to both. An organised, practical down-to earth girl. As usual, spreading time and emotion, within a seemingly ideal setting, can lead to the beginnings of things going awry. Organised people need friends and colleagues. People she has trusted for years maybe are not what they seem. Trust often may lead to betrayal. Unfairly for Tallie, effects fall on her family and friends. From a secure surrounding, her world begins to crumble. Familiar sequelae of not being in total control lead to unexpected, personal outcomes. Danielle Steel narrates in her own style, gripping her readership. Her signature is written throughout the novel and her finales always are awaited with unpredictable anticipation. This is a most enjoyable book written with engaging prose that tugs on the emotions and heartbeat. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Rad 11 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the best Danielle Steel novel I have read in a long time. I was getting very tired of her overdone characters, unbelievable plot lines and rushed storylines, in particular the endless "I love you's" two minutes after central characters had got together.
THIS book concentrates on a great storyline, and actually reminded me of some of her earlier and finer stories, Steel here is writing about a subject she knows (crime) and she avoids 'drivel', focusing on what is happening and keeping the attention on the plot subject. I particularly liked the short 'epilogue' at the end that brought everything together. I wish she would write more books like this one.
