3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed - Based on actual game, not demo. 16 Sep 2009

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
When I first tried the Demo on the PSN network I loved it, the style, the action, the grind house feel. It was fantastic. So I was eager to get the game. I managed to get an early release copy of it and honestly I'm disappointed.

The action gets repetitive very quickly, the graphics I was not bothered by in the demo however after prolonged exposure they started to grate on me. The acrobatic side is clunky and not as well set out as I had hoped (Prince of Persia style). In fact the whole game feels disjointed.

However there are some redeeming features, there are cinema adverts at times in the game that really add to the grind house feel, the music is fantastic and the overall style is redeeming. The only reason I'm continuing to play it is due to the fact that I enjoy the style. Now I may be disappointed purely because the demo gave me such high hopes however I think they had all the elements of a great game sitting there and they just couldn't put them together.

I really wanted to enjoy this thoroughly, and it's a shame I couldn't.

4.0 out of 5 stars wow wet 14 Oct 2009

Wet may not be the most original of shooters out there but its sure a lot of fun. It has some similarity to stranglehold,so if youve played that game this is similar in some ways. Beware this game will test your patience ! its friggin hard i places and watch the dude on youtube do his walkthrough on it and listen to him lose his rag !..lol it can be a sod to do some of it but its worth perservering. Yes its repetitive but there are variations on occasions. nice voice work from malcolm mcdowell and eliza dushku who play the main characters. Great game..not a classic but a lot of fun !

When WET, the acrobatic 3rd person shooter by Bethesda (the same guys behind the `Elder Scrolls' series and `Fallout 3') was released in September `09, the reviews which came with it did not really help the gaming community make up their minds if this was a definite purchase or not. If you simply relied on a quick review on YouTube you saw plenty of fancy action and cool grindhouse-like visuals, under-layered by an uber-sweet soundtrack. However, once you started reading the magazines the picture got somewhat confusing.

When the PSM3 publication gave it a 71% in its #119 issue and highlighted `relentless combat, stylish visuals, hot new heroine and slow motion' I was pumped to finally having had found a game to bridge the waiting time until GoW III or Assassin's Creed II were out. However, then came PLAY magazine and buried the game with a measly 41% rating accompanied by comments such as `WET is mindlessly violent and devoid of fun' or `WET is a great concept, but one whose execution screams for another year of development - Everything is in need of further honing, from the horrible controls to the animation and rewards system'. So you can imagine having read these two reviews, did not help me neither.

So like the brave gamer I am I flipped the coin and decided to buy WET in order to find out the real story myself - and truth be told I am only semi-disappointed. While the game itself looks and feels like a +6-hour `Kill Bill' episode, supported by 1 of the best action-packed, Tarantino-like soundtracks I have ever heard for any game (e.g.

3.0 out of 5 stars Starts well, but then it's all the same!! 2 April 2010
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I played the demo a while ago and really enjoyed it. Came on here and at the price it was listed at here thought it was a no-brainer. Started playing the game and again, all the great hallmarks of the demo were plain to see so I was quite satisfied with the purchase. But then everything started going horribly wrong...

The more I played the more I realised I was just doing the SAME old thing again and again; the only difference would be difficulty and the arena. Apart from that, it was all too monotonous! It seems they took a good idea and then just tried to milk it again and again in the game rather than come up with some different technique to complete a level - not always just go for hitting three (or more) targets to stop the enemies coming, a blood in the eyes level (which I thought was incredibly innovative when I first saw it) and then a driving sequence.

To be honest, those three scenarios seem to be the only scenarios in the game. Granted I'm not that far into the game, but it's not as if I'm right at the start and that's really all that I've come accross. And if I'm bored already then surely there's something wrong with the overall design of the game.

Overall, some great innovative ideas but the fact that those ideas are constantly repeatedly disappoints.

4.0 out of 5 stars Here we go ! 7 Nov 2009

In the begening there were quite a mess about this game, and after a while I read in magazine that game is due to be canceled because of the financial problems. When i so demo on PSN i was very happy. I enjoyed it which lead me to buying the game.
Now, i do consider all the bad points about this game and i do aknowledge it's weakneses, however it's not a bad game in fact it's a game worth your time and money.
First of all, this game theme is based upon movies such as Die Hard, Pulp Fiction. How can you not enjoy this action/shooter movies ?
Second of all, soundtrack it's a first game that uses soundtracks from 70's, and it does work. I mean some bangin' rocn'n'roll with great tune and lirycs when you fighting 80 bad guys in retro look.
Graphics is a tight discussion, it's good and bad at the same time.
Action, yes it does get repetitive, but if you into non-stop action and you killing with style, then you hit the spot. Also you have chalenges every level with fighting enemies or doing some acrobatics.
Level design, every location is different with lots of walls, edges, etc to jump aroudn and kill people.
Rubi, voiced by Eliza Dushku, yes Eliza is attractive and Rubi as well. Together they sync quite perfectly.

Buy it, for what it is you will get great time playing.
