1.0 out of 5 stars Dire 10 Aug 2012
By J. Scott TOP 100 REVIEWER

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I rented this, played it , then sent it back with a profound feeling of gratitude that I hadn't actually paid money to buy it. Even at its current massively reduced price of about a tenner, I still wouldn't want it. Frankly, if someone offered you this for FREE, you'd probably regret saying 'yes'.

In fact, the massive price drop probably tells you most of what you need to know about the game.

The sad thing is, there's really a good game in there somewhere. It just never quite gets out.

In theory the control system should make the game an utter joy to play, stringing together lots of increasingly acrobatic moves as you decimate your opponents. In practice I found it fiddly and annoying - but that may be just a personal thing.

What annoyed me more is that training 'challenges' which (IMO) should be optional scenarios have been made an essential part of the game. If you're playing the game because you like the story (such as it is), this will drive you crazy. You have to beat the clock on a tedious series of assault courses before you can get back into the story.

And that's before I even start on the REALLY lazy game design - sections of this game seem to have been written on the principle: "The level's really short, so let's make it so that the player has to die, over and over and over before they 'get' it. That will make it seem longer."

Well, sorry, Game Designers, but you really need to memorise this motto: "Frustration does not equal fun." Frankly, life's too short and there are too many GOOD game to play.

Graphics and animation are also lazily done and quite shoddy. It looks like something created about a decade ago.

I came to this game with very low expectations, but still I was hoping for more than this.

Emphatically not recommended

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed - Based on actual game, not demo. 16 Sep 2009

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
When I first tried the Demo on the PSN network I loved it, the style, the action, the grind house feel. It was fantastic. So I was eager to get the game. I managed to get an early release copy of it and honestly I'm disappointed.

The action gets repetitive very quickly, the graphics I was not bothered by in the demo however after prolonged exposure they started to grate on me. The acrobatic side is clunky and not as well set out as I had hoped (Prince of Persia style). In fact the whole game feels disjointed.

However there are some redeeming features, there are cinema adverts at times in the game that really add to the grind house feel, the music is fantastic and the overall style is redeeming. The only reason I'm continuing to play it is due to the fact that I enjoy the style. Now I may be disappointed purely because the demo gave me such high hopes however I think they had all the elements of a great game sitting there and they just couldn't put them together.

I really wanted to enjoy this thoroughly, and it's a shame I couldn't.

4.0 out of 5 stars wow wet 14 Oct 2009
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Wet may not be the most original of shooters out there but its sure a lot of fun. It has some similarity to stranglehold,so if youve played that game this is similar in some ways. Beware this game will test your patience ! its friggin hard i places and watch the dude on youtube do his walkthrough on it and listen to him lose his rag !..lol it can be a sod to do some of it but its worth perservering. Yes its repetitive but there are variations on occasions. nice voice work from malcolm mcdowell and eliza dushku who play the main characters. Great game..not a classic but a lot of fun !
