3.0 out of 5 starsNot totally bad...11 Dec 2012
By D. Chapman - Published on Amazon.com
Overall I liked Bet You'll Marry Me. It is a decent love story about a cowgirl trying to save her family's ranch and a guy who wants to marry her to get his hands that ranch. Unfortunately there were a few things that annoyed me about the book.
I felt like I started reading this story right in the middle. There was no build up to the plot, no getting to know the characters at all before disaster had struck. And while the plot was interesting, I kind of felt the whole `betting' thing was run into the ground.
Then we have the romance. I really did not feel it between Jenny and Nick. Maybe if the story had been longer we could have seen their feeling for each other grow. I also did not agree with how he assumed that once he married her he would just have the right to sell her ranch.
The ending was just another perfectly tied up HEA. It was very predictable and expected. No surprises here.
So would I read it again? No, not unless I totally ran out of books to read. I am happy I did read it, I just wished I had enjoyed it more.

I read the shortened version on this story when Darlene Panzera was the winner of the Debbie Macomber's Make Your Dreams Come True contest and it was released in Family Affair. I loved it so much I was very excited to see it in full and expanded length.
The whole town starts laying bets on who will marry Jenny, and the last on her list is handsome, Nick Chandler. This story is a sweet and fun romance that I was cheering for the hero and heroine from the beginning to the end of the book.
I cant wait to read more by this debut author. No romance fan will be disappointed!

The story is a fun, fast, and sweet romance. Jenny is a determined, hard working woman trying to save her ranch. Nick is an east coast "city slicker," who is full of surprises, as Jenny finds out. The support characters are likeable as are the hero and heroine. It's an upbeat story perfect for a rainy afternoon.

Jenny O'Brien is a headstrong heroine and owner of a ranch in trouble in eastern Washington. Nick Chandler is the slick, east coast businessman who has come to buy her out. This match up between two seemingly polar opposites was a lot of fun to read. It reminded me of movies I grew up with where the two major characters are at odds with each other and the banter between them is light and funny. I especially enjoyed the secondary characters--they made the small town come alive.
If you're looking for a sweet, fun romance, then Bet You'll Marry Me is it!

I enjoy books that entertain and make me smile, and that's what this one did. It had suspense and romance....a nice combination. I couldn't help but think it would make a great movie for the Hallmark channel.
