Purchased this because of the data logging facility via USB. The meter did not have Windows 7 (64bit) drivers. Loaded drivers in Vista (from mini CD) but then found that there was an error in the 'Sound PC Link' data logging software which made the meter unusable for this purpose, although Ok as a stand-alone instrument.
Contacted seller, several prompt and polite emails but they just didn't seem to get the message about the software. They have offered me £2 to go away or a full refund if I send it back.
Contacted manufacturer, Wensn, via email (don't try the feedback page because there doesn't seem to be any) and after a few days they kindly sent email attachments of both 32 bit and 64 bit drivers, Manual and 'Sound PC Link' program which works. The only problem is that they are the Chinese versions.
This would be a brilliant bit of kit for the money, well deseving 5* except for the hassle getting it to work. I can decipher what the program is doing and have decided I may as well keep it because I can't see a similar priced alternative.
16th Jan 2013: the meter is now 'currently unavailable' which probably means that Best Deal have taken it off their shelves because of the software problem - well done them!
Some of the projects we do, involve taking audio readings for electronic equipment which can be fitted with fans etc. In that situation, You need a sound metre than can differentiate between 20 and 35 dBA. Which is exactly the region where this product struggles. We have tried it on speaker systems and it performs quite well. If you're measuring 'above normal noises in the real world', then it is fine. Try to measure quietness and you will be disappointed.
