It's not often I come across an album that I listen to from start to finish and then start all over again! But 'Best Thing Thats Happened' has made me do just that. This is an outstanding piece of work from Rob Halligan who must be Britain's best-kept musical secret. Keep your X-Factors, this is real original music written from the heart by a songsmith who has natural talent in conveying a good story through an excellent song. If you know anything about how Rob lost his Dad in 9/11 then 'Roger Daltrey' will bring a tear to your eye, whereas Dungeon Ghyl will have you air-guitaring round your living room when you should be decorating - no? Just me then.

The sign of a good album is that you want to play it again and again. Just so with 'Best thing'. A good variety of songs, themes and styles, though it doesn't go too far away from the 'folk-rock' genre. 'You' is a touching ballad where Rob wears his faith on his sleeve, and there's a great acoustic version of After The Fire's 'Carry me Home' which rounds the disc off. If there's one criticism it's that the album's just too short. You're enjoying it and then it's over!
