Volume 3 of 4,

This review is from: The Best Sixties Album in the World...Ever! III (Audio CD)
I regard this as the best series of sixties compilations yet released on CD. Even with 200 tracks between four volumes, it would have been easy to continue the series. On compilations like this, I particularly look for classic tracks by artists who only had one or two big hits. Of course, most of the major names are here although you won't find Elvis, the Beatles or the Rolling Stones here due to licensing restrictionsWith no drop in quality from the first two volumes, this contains another outstanding selection of sixties classics although there was no track that particularly stood out for me this time. My favorites here are Mrs Robinson (Simon and Garfunkel), California dreaming (Mamas and Papas), Walk right back (Everly brothers), The wanderer (Dion), What becomes of the broken hearted (Jimmy Ruffin), San Francisco (Scott McKenzie), I'll never fall in love again (Bobbie Gentry) and Nights in white satin (Moody blues) but there are plenty of other great songs here. The big surprise was the inclusion of Subterranean homesick blues (Bob Dylan) as it is rare for Bob Dylan to appear on compilations of this type. With three outstanding volumes released, this series was becoming something special. I worked out that it would be easy to fill at least another three volumes of similar quality.

Virgin has managed to bring up yet another great compilation of all time classics. The digital remastering makes each recording sound as good as new, and the wide variety of songs means you never get bored of it. With one of my all time favourites 'walk right back'from the everly brothers, disc one is my preferred disc. 'The best sixties album in the world ever' is a fantastic series of compilations and buying any of them would certainly not lead to any dissappointment.
