I bought this album in 1977 when it first came out. The quality of performance is outstanding which is uncommon in the ragtime genre. This Album gives you a great view of ragtime during the Joplin period.

Two complaints about the MP3's here represented: First, Where did Joseph Lamb's Cottontail Rag go? The original album had it and it was a remarkable and sensitive performance.

Second: The titles of the pieces are wrong from Track 16 to the end! They should be as follows:

16. Ragtime Dance
17. Alabama Jigger
18. The Cascades
19. Swipesy Cake Walk
20. Russian Rag
21. Grace and Beauty
22. Polyragmic
23. Carrie's Gone to Kansas City

Max Morath has been an all-around fine representative of the old-style ragtime performer. His interpretations of the Joplin classics are well-known and loved by many. The discoveries here are some of the more unfamiliar composers and their rousing ragtime works. Well worth the price!

I especially enjoyed these rendentions which include a wide array of other instrumentation rather than strictly piano like other Ragtime selections I have purchased.
