The Cd starts with Robert Parker illustrating the stages in moving from an original 78 played on original equipment, through to his cleaned and synthesised stereo version, using Weatherbird as the example. The transformation is astonishing. Not all tracks are quite to the same standard of clarity (most are close), but go a very long way to producing a result similar to a modern recording. Noise is reduced to an absolute minimum, and the instruments are separated in a manner not often heard on remasterings of old tracks. The Stereo effect no doubt won't suit some purists, but for me brings the music alive.
