The previous reviewer is spot on this is indeed a great compilation and the ideal introduction to Wilsons underappreciated talent. If you want something soulful thats going to take you from the 50's when soul began to the 70's when it finally matured and came of age then this selection of Jackie Wilson classics and lesser known songs will do it for you.
Theres too many highlights to list them all but if you only know the obvious reference points such as Reet Petite and Higher And Higher then it pushes all the buttons. For an appreciation of his vocal strength listen to his Danny Boy which could just as easily be Ray Charles with that arrangement! It simply has the kind of depth you wont hear on some of his more up-tempo numbers,as good as they are,its goosebumps on the back of the neck time.
On a final note the label itself Music Club is one of those budget labels i've come to trust as i have several of theirs and they deserve every credit for largely doing an excellent job. If labels were rated here i'd give them a solid 4 stars, have a browse and check them out.
