The BBC Jazz Club was founded as a weekly radio programme by Mark White in the late forties to succeed Radio Rhythm Club as the main outlet for live jazz on air. It came into its own in 1950 with the great Trad Boom and this Volume 2 in our British Jazz series features two great names - the Humphrey Lyttelton and His Band and Sandy Brown's Jazz Band. The second in our excellent series of the British jazz as mirrored by the BBC recordings from the late 1950s and 60s. This second album features the great Humphrey Lyttelton and also features the much respected but under-recorded Sandy Brown. The foreword for this series is by the great Humphrey Lyttelton. Tracks 1 to 15 Humphrey Lyttelton and his Band. Tracks 16 to 20 Sandy Browns Jazz Band.
