Plenty of compilations around but this captures Michael at his peak, great songs, superb melodies, fantastic production and out of this world guitar wizadry. A really good blend of heavy and lighter rock tracks each one a gem.

If you want a 'greatest' album doesnt get better than this from Schenker.

This man has been overlooked in the who is the great guitar players of the last two decades columns, since the seventies I know that music weekly`s `Sounds`rock scribe Geoff Barton, has always stood up and written proudly about the work of Michael Schenker. the guitarist starts with the Scorpions which did and still does feature his brother Rudolph on guitar. then up pop UFO and Michael jumps ship to be the piece in the jigsaw that starts it all rolling ( for UFO that is ). the group are on the verge of being a international big noise, when the news leaks out that Michael has had a wobbly and gone AWOL, Michael has a new lease of life and bounces back with his band Michael Schenker Group. a following did take hold but Japan was the major market, this is a great compilation and if you have no or hardly any material then start here and enjoy..

Micheal Schenker may have been known for his off field problems citing problems getting along with members of UFO and issues with alcohol but this 16 track collection which displays some of his finest moments made via his fretboard and the vocals of Gary Barden which shows on tracks like "Armed And Ready" with its amusing lyric "Is it hard enough, is it long enough?" coupled with the mad axemans guitar work which carries on in good form on"Cry For The Nations" and "Are you ready to rock".

Graham Bonnet formerly of Rainbow does not seem to be remembered fondly being the replacement for Gary Barden since his short spell as a member of MSG was cut short after a fallout with mickey but his vocals on the commerically friendly Rainbow songs like "All Night Long" and "Since You've been gone" shines well on the MSG compilations three tracks "assault attack", "dancer" and "girl from uptown"

The reason why im giving this compilation 4 stars rather than 5 is the fact that i feel this compilation could have represented some more of his other material from his stint under the moniker of the mcAuley Schenker Group and upto his latest album with Gary Baren "In the midst of Beauty"
not to forget butchering UFO's classic song "Doctor Doctor" which i suppose the bulk of the blame can be laid at whoever sang it but overall is a good place to start for those wanting to investigate the stuff the guitarist did outside one of the uks popular but less recognised rock groups.
