I lost touch with Marillion about the time of the release of The Strange Engine in the late 90's. While Scandavian prog bands such as Anglagard and Par Lindh Project were creating a mini prog revival Marillion were becoming less interesting to me and seemed to be moving further away from what I liked. However since then I've discovered all kinds of 'pseudo' prog rock bands such as Porcupine Tree and Muse and perhaps have become more receptive to a more contemporary approach.

This live album is drawn from performances fronted by Steve Hogarth so there are very few songs from the eighties version of Marillion , certainly no complex peices. Instead this is a sleek streamlined approach with less flashy theatrics and more emphasis on atmosphere and Steve Hogarths rather beautiful voice.I think this works well as a compilation of Marillion's best live performances of the last 20 years and the way the songs are knitted helps bring it alltogether much better than a studio compilation could ever do.

Sound production quality is absolutely immaculate and the package comes in a very nice digi book format.Recommended!

Lie back and enjoy. As a Marillion fan through and through from the early days with Fish and through their development into new styles I have always enjoyed the experience that their music provides. Whne I purchased this double CD I stuck it in ky car and it's still there and will be for some time to come.

I would thoroughly recommend this experience to all.

As a Fish aficionado back in the late 80s I bought Seasons End, saw the first tour with Steve Hogarth, then apart from buying This Strange Engine cheaply for a fiver - I was, however, strangely attracted to the title track) - didn't bother with the 'new' Marillion. In 2007 I won tickets to see them in Newcastle on the Somewhere Else tour. My god, what had I missed? It was a genuinely moving experience. I bought every release and download I could straight away. Since the, I've listened to the most heart warming and moving music I've ever witnessed. I can honestly say each new release since 1989 has been superb. The trailer for the new CD sounds fantastic. The Christmas show last December in Manchester was one of the (and I have attended a few at my age!) best concerts ever.

Thank you. Looking forward to the trip from Newcastle to Manchester on 10th September...............Oh, get this and the new CD. You will not be disappointed.

Any Marillion fan will have one of his favourite songs not on this, but this is obviously a great collection from one of my favourite bands, one of the most creative groups ever. Must have, no doubt. Perfect collection. It brings memories too, maybe I was in the crowd in one of those, but in any case this is of the highest caliber and if Marillion has issued many live albums over the years, this is one to own for sure. You also get "The release" by the way, not so easy to find otherwise.
What a band!!!

This cd is very good and the song's selection is very good.

From my point of view the CD should include: "Happiness Is The Road", "Afraid of Sunlight", "Easter" and "Splitering Heart", to complete the task. But is very good selection!! High recomended to all fans of Marillion.
