Product Description

Hailed as "mesmerizing" by the Insight Out Bookclub, the world's largest LGBT reading group, Cleis' Best Lesbian Erotica is the standard bearer for the genre. Kathleen Warnock has taken the series to new heights of ecstasy with the 2014 entry which is sensational, sensual as well as being really smart smut. A Goldie nominated editor, Warnock collects stories from around the globe, giving this assemblage a fresh sensibility and new points of view. But what really sets Best Lesbian Erotica 2014 apart, however, is the characters; each woman is written so real, you can almost feel the warmth of their bodies in the bed beside you. Evocative and erotic, this commanding collection holds readers right to the very last page.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent anthology, worth purchasing 20 Dec 2013
By Reviewer - Published on

Excellent anthology, worth purchasing. Even the stories I didn't care for (a few, due to personal writing preferences) had something to recommend them.

1.) "Reunion at St. Mary's" - Catherine Lundoff: A high school reunion heats up a couple's sex play. Fun, well-written.

2.) "Big Lesbo Cupcakery" - D.L. King: Well-written food and sex story.

3.) "Lake Travis Steam" - Lucien C. West: Lesbians hook up on a lake. Excellent set-up, mood, etc. One of the best stories in this collection.

4.) "Stitch and Bitch" - A.L. Simonds: Knitting, skateboarding and lesbian lust - heady, character-interesting brew. One of the best stories in this collection.

5.) "Bridge Line" - Anamika: Mood- and lust-effective, tasteful "in the best tradition of a B-Grade Hollywood romance" tale. A Bengali woman gets a hot entrance into the modeling world. One of the best stories in this collection.

6.) "Who at My Door Is Standing" - Sam Tweed: Knife-play and lesbian neighbors - well-written, distinctive for this collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Refreshing F/F Anthology 14 Feb 2014
By V.C. - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
Best Lesbian Erotica 2014 may not be the best lesbian anthology I've read, but there's something about it that makes it a bit more unique than most. Sure, some of the stories completely missed the mark for me, not because they were badly written or because the stories were bad, but because I didn't care for the writing style of the author or like the premise of the story (or lack thereof). It's just a personal preference thing. There's no such thing as an anthology where all the stories hit the right spots for the reader; Best Lesbian Erotica 2014 is no exception. But overall, every story in this collection brought something refreshing on the Best Lesbian Erotica table. There's just so much variety in this collection. Many of the stories star female characters that are smart, witty, sexy, fun, ballsy, crazy, and pretty cool. The sex was pretty well-drawn, steamy, and exciting, and yes, very vivid, so much so that you feel as if you're actually in the moment, being that fly on the wall watching these fictional characters in action. What I loved the most about this anthology was how a lot of the stories were lush with wonderful plots/story-lines and characterization. Even if the sex scenes were taken out, there's still an amazing story there. The sex is just that icing on the cake, or the (butch) cupcakes, I should say. Best Lesbian Erotica 2014, despite its misses and shortcomings, is the icing and the cake; it's really that scrumptious, and in many cases, quite addictive.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice mix of this genre 13 July 2014
By Bonnie - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
A nice mix of this genre. Stories that will cover so many different emotions and feeling of real people. The thing with anthologies, is sometimes there are a few stories that are taken from previously published anthologies. The only two I found in this was "Reunion at St. Mary's" and "Run Jo Run". That still leave 15 stories I hadn't seen previously. Some of these stories has a few surprises and I really did enjoy most of them I gave it 4 stars because of the two repeats and the 2 stories that left me kind of flat. "Tongue in Cheek" & "What I Need". The thing with anthologies is you get to see new authors and their work. If you like them, you go from there. I thought it was worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars These stories are real!!! 26 Feb 2014

Some are not as steamy as others, but they all portray lesbian desire in a positive and human light. Written by women for women and not the male gaze.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Lesbian Erotica anthology since the one I read last year! 18 Jan 2014
By QuixoticOrchid - Published on
The back cover of this anthology promised the stories would titillate my brain and they did. Very much so! I loved the depth and intelligence in this body of work. Each story had its own intriguing personality, rich in colorful language and an around-the-world experience in culture variety. The best of the bunch, in my humble opinion, was The Big Lesbo Cupcakery by D.L. King. Who knew a simple story about a woman watching over a shelf of cupcakes could be so delicious?
