My son has always struggled with writing, and things were reaching the point where he was avoiding tasks at school. I came to this book, and its predecessor with some doubts, but the lad has loved it.
What I have done is get him to do each exercise twice on lined paper <no photocopying here guvnor> before completing it in the book.
He has particularly enjoyed learning how to do joined up writing. This does not appear to have been taught at school:
- the difference between a slope and a bridge join
- which letters you join to, which letters you join from.
It has provided a framework and common language for us to use in supporting his writing.
10/10 for Mr Brodie. This evening I will be buying some other 'Brodie Workbooks' + will review them in due course.
