5.0 out of 5 stars Glam wasn't all good or cool, 18 Jan 2006
Very good mix of what glam was all about. Note that it is a Glam ROCK album and as such doesn't have too much of the over sugary nonsense of the time. It does however present much of the diverse, odd, forgotten, and fondly remembered nonsense of the time. Bejeezus, the Runaways were good and you may be forced to admit that David Essex had his moments. You may decide to check out other stuff by Cockney Rebel, but trust me, If you get this you won't need any more Golden Earring recordings.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Document Of An Era, 13 April 2001
By A Customer
No "Sugar Baby Love", no "I Love You Love Me Love", no "Come Up And See Me (Make Me Smile)", no "The Bump", and not even a "Shang-A-Lang". Instead, we get THREE T.Rex songs and not even "Metal Guru" at that!

Of the many "The Best Album In The World" compilations out there, this one got to be one of the most disappointing in the series.

We're force fed awfulness a la The Faces' "Stay With Me" (Glam Rock? I think not. More like 2nd rate Stones) and Steve Harley's self-indulgent (to say the least) "Sebastian". Seemingly, as well, the compilers wanted to re-write history in light of Gary Glitter's child porn conviction and wrote him out of the picture completely.

Very strange and utterly & absolutely unsatisfying. Go for that double German ("Dynamite" was it?) import instead. Much more eclectic and not nearly as snobbish as this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars grr, 11 Dec 2007

How can you possibly have a GLAM record without Gary Glitter? Pretending he doesn't exist isnt gonna make his influence go away. This is childish.
