Fantastic 23 April 2008

Format:Paperback
This is the funniest book I have read in ages, I laughed out loud and wanted to be Roxy but in actual fact I am more like Ginny! Brill book for lying in bed on a wet horrible day with a cuppa and chocolate, it will cheer you up no end.

Fun 27 Dec 2008

This book didn't do as much for me as the other readers claim in their reviews but perhaps I'm outside the age group at which this was aimed. The plot is lively and unpredictable but at times it was more crude than entertaining. The story did keep me engaged but I wasn't keen on the brothel background or the hero acting as a brothel keeper or even the constant line that sexual experimentation is the only route to finding yourself or happiness.

I bought My Best Friend's Life on the basis of the positive reviews it was given. While I wasn't laughing out loud, I did find the book amusing. Most of the characters were likeable, though I found Roxy to be quite testing. I found Ginny's sexual `growth' a bit awkward, given the simple life she had and that she was only supposed to be covering Roxy's job for a mere few weeks. But then again Ginny's life needed spicing up.........

In general I liked the book's theme - change can be good. Shari Low's writing was good; the characters' thoughts and feelings were conveyed well and the humour wasn't on overkill. I would invite people to read this book once; at least borrow a friend's copy!

Terrible!!
I wasn't expecting much... Just chick lit, an easy holiday read. Really unlikeable characters. The plot is ridiculous. The humour and constant metaphors are just dire!! Read more
