Not A Recommended Read for True Animal Lovers 27 July 2010
By F. Figueroa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I do not understand how anyone would recommend this book to any animal lover. It seems that throughout the authors life a few pets were put to sleep due to never disclosed illnesses, I am inclined to believe that finances were a factor. Some were given away only to have met unknown fates ( cat ran away the day she was given up & so called friend did not even bother to mention it till asked) other cats were given up through ads with no care to whom adopted them(author blames this on ex-husband), a poor cat was taken to a shelter ( are you serious??!) the worse offense was breeding her own Pug ( at 1.5yr none the less! ) so she could keep a puppy!! Right after the "breeding" they gave up her "beloved" Sheperd because he did not fit in their new downsized accomodations....they did keep the Pugs though. So even though it seems that this book is about surviving bad relationships, the ones that truly needed help surviving were all the disposable pets in the authors life. These pets were used for whatever comfort they provided & easily disposed of using every excuse in the book to do so when they were no longer needed, or wanted.A true animal lover will find theses stories heartbreaking... All this just in the first half of the book i did not have the stomach to finish it so I am unaware of how many more met similar fates. This author is anything but a bestfriend to pets.

Don't Buy It! 30 July 2010
By Veronica Morgan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book was very misleading to say the least. QUite frankly, this woman uses the ploy of being abused as an excuse to not truly care for her animals. Yes, while her relatiosnhips sucked, she was never physically, nor mentally abused. Yes, her boyfriends were not very nice, but unlike a truly abused women, it was more her not being smart enough to leave them. She let her animals be mistreated and terrorized, and I feel bad for the animals with her. She has a pug with numerous health problems, and yet she refuses the help of the veterinarian multiple times, which she claims is so she can heal naturally, but I feel is more likely for financial reasons.

All this book is about is her maing excuses for her life. Nothing more.

Bored me almost to tears. 21 Nov 2010
By V. K. Hersh - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm an animal lover, so thought this book would be a light read (and having just finished the Dragon Tattoo series, I needed something mindless) - but lord, not THIS mindless.

The writer does not connect you to her or her animals at all. When she had to put one of her dogs to sleep, I didn't even get a little choked up (and this from a person who cries at Kleenex commercials). I never felt the writer was abused, as it sounded (more like she was simply ignored by a large portion of the men in her life) and while I'm sure Trooper was abused, she truly glosses over that, continuing to focus on herself.

I only gave it 2 stars because I'm trying to find something salvageable about the 2 days I wasted reading this nonsense.

I'm glad it was free when I downloaded it.
