Now this book sure has lots of recipes! It's crammed with them! It has the feel of an edited selection, scattergun, rather than carefully chosen favourites. There are no pictures, so you need to be able to read a recipe and visualise it to know what you are getting. Some come direct from websites and others are family favourites of the two authors.

However, there are some interesting recipes in there, some unusual grains; Teff,Sorghum and Amaranth for example. In the world of gluten free this represents a departure from the white flour facsimiles of most recipe books.

I would recommend this book if you know what you're doing in the kitchen and love baking. Put a star by the recipes you've tried and enjoyed and get yourself some American cup measures if you don't already have them.

I purchased two wheat free cooking books from amazon and I sent this one back. There are far too many different ingredients required for a simple recipe and your lucky if you can easily source what you are looking for. I'm afraid - I'm not a fan of this book. As you will know, it is hard enough trying to keep the cost down when sourcing wheat free goods. I have other baking books that use simple ingredients found within local supermarket chains and the baking tastes just as good as baking with wheat.

I struggled for several years trying to bake wheat free food but it was always a nightmare. It is always very difficult to get the right consistency and end result, the job was always messy and the taste was never good at all. I found this book difficult to understand at the begining then after familiarising myself with the products easy to follow and very clear. I tried the flat bread twice. The first time it was a disaster because I used the wrong combination of flours, so my mistake. The second time worked better but not perfect. I took some notes and I know that the third time it is going to be perfect. I tried to make a cake for my daughters birthday and the result was the best ever cake I ever baked, wheat or no wheat. I used the same recipe with a little variation - replaced some of the flour with cocao powder and added a melted bar of plain chocolate. The result was, as commented by those who were at my daughter's birthday, better than any chocolate cake they've eaten! I am going to work my way through a number of recipes till I master them. I found out that with practice I can do different variations and there will always be the need for trial and error. One huge disappointment in the book it does not have pictures so I have nothing to compare my baking end result with or no idea if it looks as it should, I just have to use my instincts and compare with what I know it should look like but we have to accept the fact that due to the nature of wheat free baking the end result of certain things will never look like the wheat baked alternative.
