1.0 out of 5 stars Magnifying Glass, Please? 24 Oct 2012
By Jeanne M. Hannah - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I bought a copy of the "1998, 2011" edition of this book. Lovely book! Great photographs that inspire one to cook and to plate up artfully. Thinking that this would be a great gift for several friends, I ordered three copies. Oh my. Nothing alerts one to the fact that the 2012 edition is not 12 X 14 inches in size-unless you read carefully down to the description of size. I did not read the fine details, because the book in every way seemed identical to the one on my desk. And, in fact, the 2012 edition is identical in every way except size of book and size of font.

When the three copies arrived, I was amazed and disappointed. There is no way this book is useable in the kitchen when you'd need a magnifying glass to read it. The ingredients portion--perhaps 6 pt font, the instruction part--perhaps 8 pt. I can't use a book that I can't read. If this book were published in PDF, it would be useable to me because I could increase the size of the print.

2.0 out of 5 stars It shrunk in the wash! 1 Jan 2013

My SIL and my MIL both have this book. I wanted to order it for my dad. When I got it - it was like the mini travel version. It's seriously the size of a field guide with like 6-8 point font! How the heck do you plop this in the recipe stand and read the recipe while cooking. It's an injustice to these great recipes. To top it off, I accidentally ordered 2 of them. So now I need two magnifying glasses to go with. There were no dimensions listed when I ordered. I assumed this would be the same size as the original. Bummer.

5.0 out of 5 stars One GREAT cookbook 10 Feb 2010
By Chuck - Published on Amazon.com

Don't let the word "Vegetarian" scare you off. I am not one (although I respect their goals). This is perhaps the greatest "Vegetable" cookbook ever. The great photography alone will pull you into the pages of the very well-written recipes. And who's to care if you want to add a couple hunks of beef to some of the stews or other dishes? This book has become one of our most used, all-around great cookbooks...get one before they're all gone!
