3.0 out of 5 stars Inconsistent but has moments that rival The Who (3.5 stars), 19 Sep 2005
By TimothyFarrell22 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Best Of The Creation (Audio CD)
The best songs on this updated compilation are by far the first twelve. Raw and savage Mod rockers such as "Making Time" and "Painter Man" rival The Who's first LP for intensity. It makes one wonder why The Creation weren't bigger than they were. The riffs are incredible, and incredibly catchy, rivaling anyone of America's classic Nuggets garage bands. The best song is by far "Making Time", which has one of the greatest opening riffs in Rock history. The song didn't translate well to American audiences, but guaranteed the band Rock Snob credentials. If the first twelve tracks were like they were originally, alone, this would be a five star album. The subsequent thirteen songs are below par and anti-climatic after those classics. For a band that had such great songs, they had several stinkers. Their covers of "Hey Joe" and "Like A Rolling Stone" are quite frankly awful. If you wan't a complete career portrait, these bonus tracks may be helpful. However, if you want just the most kick@$$ sides from the band, the twelve opening tracks would've done. Worth the money just for those.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Creation is the Best, 2 Jan 2005
By Carrie Cantor "book editor" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Best Of The Creation (Audio CD)
I discovered The Creation when watching the movie rushmore but I couldn't find any samples of there music. I finally went to amazon.com and found there cd. I was a little hesitant to buy buy I did and I have no regrets. I don't get how The Creation is not famous. I put them right up there with The Who and The beatles. They music sounds like a mix between The Who, the Beatles, and the Kinks. How come some bands make and other don't?
If you want rock and roll at its best get the Best of the Creation.
(If you're not sure if you like them, check out there album, Our Music Is Red - With Purple Flashes, on amazon.com which has samples. The songs are pretty much the same.)
