If you like the classical music from Japanese anime, you'll love this fantastic compilation
the recording is excellent and the selection of tracks very fluid. I would definitely recommend
this CD.

... for my 13 year old daughters and they both love it. They listen to it while doing homework 7 July 2014

Purchased this for my 13 year old daughters and they both love it. They listen to it while doing homework, downloaded onto their I-pods, and play it at night when they sleep. Both also enjoy Ghibili movies so I assume that is why they love this CD so much. Music is beautiful and tells a story; as a mom I appreciate that their are no offensive lyrics (the music is primarily instrumental) and that the girls are listening to something other than what is on the radio. Success for all!

Perhaps better than the original film recordings 18 April 2014

Master composer Joe Hisaishi conducts his compositions for film and plays piano. These were evidently concert recordings. Personally, I prefer some of them to the film originals. The recordings are wonderfully clean and clear, and the arrangements are beautiful. If you are a fan of Joe Hisaishi, or simply a fan of great music, this is a worthwhile CD to have.

Essential 23 July 2013
By Surjorimba Suroto - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Live album release from Joe Hisaishi, a Japanese composer especially known for his scores for the Ghibli films and Takeshi Kitano's ones, featuring his "Joe Hisaishi 3.11 Charity Concert - The Best of Cinema Music -" concert held at Tokyo Kokusai Forum Hall A on June 9, 2011. He plays the piano and conducts Tokyo New City Orchestra and The Little Singers of Tokyo. Included tunes (subject to change): "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind," "Princess Mononoke," "Spirited Away," "BROTHER," "HANA-BI," and more. *A part of the profit will be donated to the children who lost their instruments in the 311 earthquake and tsunami.

(the above was taken from another shop)

Those who are not familiar with Hisaishi's work may recognize the anime movies: Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbour Totoro, Nausicaa of the Valley of the WInd, Kiki's Delivery Service, and many more from Ghibli Studios.

While the tunes here will take you back to the anime scenes, some can still enjoy it although never seen the anime or heard the music before. Some of Hisaishi works can be described as fun, sad, happy, heartbreaking. I highly recommend this CD, as not many compilation can be found. If you love this, then I suggest you get the music score CDs.

But this compilation CD can make your day brighter and wander to imaginary Ghibli land=).
Amazing Music 30 Dec. 2013

The music is utterly amazing. It is a must for people into movie music and is comparable to that of John Williams. One can listen to it hours on end. I highly recommend it, especially for Studio Ghibli fans.

You could easily listen to some songs on Youtube, however, you can never get this type of sound quality for the type of music genre this album provides.
