This book was originally published in the 80s when there was a dearth of british film books. This has now been corrected. This is a collection of essays on 12 films from the 30s,Sanders Of The River,to the 80s and Scandal. The essays cover the gestation, production and exhibition of the films, together with their reception by censor and public. Most of the essays are straightforward. However there are a couple which vere into what i would call acadamese and are downright boring. It is helpful to have seen most of the films featured before reading the book.
