Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Scanning the tracklisting of Blur's greatest hits album it's hard not to reach the conclusion that the band are a little embarrassed by their earlier and even mid-career work. Opening with the chart one-two of "Beetlebum" and "Song 2" (from their eponymous creative watershed album of 1997) rather than the baggy groove of debut single "She's So High", the band's desire to accentuate their more recent efforts is obvious. Running order aside, it's hard to fault the 18 tracks which chart the life and times of one of the country's smartest, most inventive bands. From the tuxedoed ballad "The Universal", through cartoon Britpoppery of numbers like "Parklife" and "Country House" to the freshly recorded indie-isms of single "Music Is My Radar", their searching intelligence, deft hooks and willingness to sweep the board are never less than admirable. --Mike Pattenden

CD Description
Greatest hits collection from one of the UK's best-loved bands, which demonstrates their ability for consistently writing super-catchy, radio-friendly singles. Features all their biggest tunes, from the debut album 'Leisure' right up to 1999's '13'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Collection of the most creative work, 26 Jul 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Best of Blur (Audio CD)
This album contains the best work by this creative band. There is a good combination of old and new but Blur never fail to disapoint. This album enabled me to notice that their songs vary and all this years they have produced alto of good stuff. The only song missing is Sunday but all the other top tunes are all in this fantastic collection. Its is the Best of Blur and if you can only buy one Blur album, it has to be this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Mixture, 6 May 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Best of Blur (Audio CD)
Blurs "best of" was always going to be good. A wide selection of tunes ranging from the Britpop of "Country House" to the sublime yet bizarre art-rock of "Music Is My Radar" offers a reasonable history of Blurs music. All of which is excellent (unless you listen to "There's No Other Way" too often). Annoyingly, "Popscene" and "Sunday Sunday" aren't included, but you can't blame the band for this as the fans were polled on what to include - so you can hardly say Blur are "ashamed of their early work".

Tracks you'd forgotten were so good: "On Your Own", "For Tomorrow", "She's So High"

An ace CD, charting the change in the bands career. A must for fans and casual observers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of Blur....so far, 16 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Best of Blur (Audio CD)
A compilation of all Blur's quality songs over the years...so far. With the excellent and original new track "Music is my radar" at the end, this is a must buy. I would also suggest buying the best of..video or dvd - their music videos are the best music videos ever made - all original and humour-filled.
