wakey wakey with a breeze,
By
This review is from: The Best Of (Audio CD)
I remember my dad commenting "Billy Cotton has a good band you know",what does dad know I thought,at the time I was a
Benny Goodman fan,(still am at 74) Woody Herman,Stan Kenton, the only British band I had time for was Ted Heath, however, in my later years I find myself singing Iv'e got a lovely bunch of coconuts, and I love the line,"there stands me wife, the idol or idle of me life". played the whole thing this morning, the only thing missing was Billy's voice at the end "wheres me hat I'm gettin outta here" great fun. ps a breeze does not refer to breeze of cold wind, but refers to Allan Breeze the resident singer with Billy Cotton, not a deep baratone like Frank&Deano, more like a tenor, and like his name brings afresh breeze to the music.

COTTON-ING ON TO MEMORIES,
By
This review is from: The Best Of (Audio CD)
My second Billy Cotton purchase after "Billys' Your Uncle", featuring mostly different tracks all, apart from two, ranging from 1950-1954.
Again good transfers...some sounding as though they were only recorded yesterday. Original Decca tracks featuring all the Billy Cotton gang, including of course Alan Breeze. I've not yet mastered singing along to the "Woodpecker Song"!

Nostalgic YES!,
By
This review is from: The Best Of (Audio CD)
Nostalgic yes. Well presented but the recordings are old and have not been brought up to present day standards, I guess for some lovers of this great man it could take a lot away from the Nostaglia if hiss etc was removed. So I agree this is a great CD and another good buy from Amazon. TRUST AMAZON ALWAYS!
