Another classic album from the Divine Miss M. Bette Midler has always been one to mix up her repotoir a bit, and record different styles such as ballads, rock and roll, boogie woogie and even Disney. It's this collection that heaves all these styles together on one volume. Like her other Greatest Hits albums, released in 1993, and again later on in 1996, The Best Bette has the Bette Midler standards the world knows and loves her for (Wind Beneath My Wings, The Rose and From a Distance). The album also contains other Bette standards from her earlier career (From The Divine Miss M : Hello in There, Do You Wanna Dance?, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and Friends)which she still performs today. There is also a rare, never released track witten by the great lady herself , "Something Your Heart Has Been Telling Me". My only problem is that I think more songs could have been included, such as "To Deserve You" from Bette of Roses and "Favourite Waste of Time" from No Frills, which both appeared on the 1996 release of Experience The Divine. But all in all, a great collection of one of the greatest artists on earth, and a BEST BETTE for any fan of Bette, or just great music in general!! :D

Always been a fan of Bette Midler's musical and acting work, and this adds to the list. Give this lady a song, any song and she can sing it, and sound fantastic. Love the song selection. Highly Recommended.

I agree with the other reviewer this is a lovely collection and there are many wonderful songs that feature on it but Bette has done so much in her career and it could have gone a little further to truly fly the flag as THE BEST BETTE.
The biggest glaring oversight for me is the DANCE MIX of Bette's massive US club hit TO DESERVE YOU. Why did they have to overlook this gem as anyone who comes across it usually is dead impressed. In fact Bette had a series of American hits on the club scene that could have easily been added to this CD which go further to show her diversity as a singer.
We love you Bette but Rhino/Warner you could have done better (this is coming from a guy who compiles collections for record labels as a living).

the best Bette cd
A good cd has some nice songs on it, but you would possibly need to be a great fan to enjoy them all. that said, they are all ok to listen to.

Disappointed
CD arrived very promply. Although the CD was fine, the CD case was damaged and scratched. Also surprised that no paperwork at all was sent with the CD.

Although I am aware of BETTE MIDLER having a wonderfull voice I purchased this C.D only because I wanted to have 1 track played at my wedding "wind beneath my wings"

Divine! Bette Midler at her best - then again, I am biased. This is something you will play again and again! A must for Bette Midler fans.
