As a beginner belly dancer and having no idea of the different Egyptian and Turkish musicians, I orginally bought this CD because of its title, and I can safely say it does come pretty close to it. There is a excellent variety of music from different artists which has enabled me to pick out the ones I really love and purchase their own albums. Music ranges from slow and sultry to hip shaking, excellent for practising different techniques. Would probably have liked a few more faster songs though and all music is instumental.

High expectations - mostly not dissapointed 2 Aug 2000

The full title of this album is "The Belly Dance Album in the World - Ever"! Now, that's quite something.... This CD was put together in cooperation with the famous Lebanese dancer Amani who appears on the cover and for whom one of the pieces was written. There are two kinds of music on the CD: Old, all time favourites and new composition. Of course, you can never go wrong with those old pieces. Most are Arabic, one is Turkish. As for the new ones, some of them sound a bit too "western" for me. I like Arabic music to be, well, Arabic.

All in all it's a nice album that gives a good overview of very different styles and interpretations of music for oriental dance.

I don't know if I'd go that far... 23 Feb 2005

This album is certainly not the best one I've ever heard, but it's not bad either. It contains a variety of music that range from old school, to a little cane number, to the sweeping drama of the first track. I don't like all the songs on it, but the sound quality is good and no artist is repeated on the 11 tracks. There are at least 4 songs on this album that are routine length as well (including the Samara rendition by Suheil Faris). There's at least one track on it that sounds a little too synthesizer-ish for me (track 7 & 10) in parts. Not the best album I've ever heard but certainly not the worst. If I were grading it I'd give it a 65%.
