Back in the 60's I taught myself to play the guitar with this book. Yes I managed to 'strum' out a tune in a day, but my poor fingers were 'tram-lined' and bleeding. However I kept going and got there in the end. The only problem was I had a cheap wire strung flat top guitar with an action that was so high you could have sliced cheese without taking the strings off the guitar, hence the tatty fingers.
Anyway, if I remember the book was really good, even if the 3 chord songs were a bit sad.
4 stars 'cos it did teach me to play and I even went to see Burt at the Fairfied Halls in Croydon because I felt I knew him because of the book!!!
Now I must go up into the loft and see if it is still in a box somewhere.
