I purhased this book for my friends who are just about to depart on their first cruise. The guide is somewhat misleading as it is generic in nature and tries to cover everything about cruising and in some cases is more apporpirat eto the US market: that said, as someone who has cruised a few times, I felt that it would have been useful to us prior to our first cruise, although reading the brochure produced by P&O is just as good and is free.

My husband and I are taking our first cruise later this year and wanted to be prepared so searched Amazon and found this book and the more detailed version by the same author. The information in both books is useful, giving details about each cruise line and the difference between ocean, river and even adventure cruises. Wish we had read this before we booked our cruise.
