Product Description

Product Description

"Berlitz Pocket Guide: Tallinn" covers all the main sights, area by area, in an easily navigable format. Tourist attractions described include Toompea's Castle, the onion-domed Aleksander Nevski Cathedral, the Lower Town's picturesque medieval streets, interesting guildhalls and gothic Town Hall, Kadriorg's baroque palace and the Estonian Open Air Museum. You can read about places to visit in outlying areas such as Pirita and Maarjamae, as well as excursions to the towns of Parnu, Tartu and Haapsalu, and natural attractions including Lahemaa National Park, the Jagala Waterfall and Naissaar Island. The book contains background historical information, advice on shopping and entertainment, as well as the low-down on eating out. There is an A-Z of practical information, listings of recommended hotels and restaurants, and useful expressions in Estonian. There are also special features on topics ranging from the Town Wall to World War II bombing ruins. Maps show Tallinn, Central Tallinn and the Gulf of Finland, and there are dozens of colour photographs throughout.

Great little book 1 Jun 2011
This is a great little book to fit in pocket or handbag. Nor does the content suffer from the compact size. Packed with useful information of the kind every visitor to a city needs. Well laid out, great photos and classy production. My only niggle (and it's understandable) is that prices quoted are in Estonian Kr and since the beginning of this year the Euro has been adopted. Apart from that, it has me drooling over the meals to be expected, the sights to see and handicrafts to bring home.

Excellent little book packed full of helpful information about Tallinn and the surrounding area. Estonia joined the Euro at the start of 2011 and the prices quoted in the book are pre-Euro, but it wasn't a huge problem. This book is great value for money and I'd certainly buy Berlitz pocket guides again. Quick delivery too.

This is a great little book with all you need to know for a mini break. Great walking tour infomation and restaurant recommendations within a pocket sized book that is light and 'manageable'.
