This is not a textbook, so you are not supposed to learn a lot from it, yet it is structured very well and many of the phrases will get stuck in your mind. It looks very nice, it's compact and shiny. It has a small dictionary in the end, which will not be very helpful if you are looking for random nouns, as it only contains few hundred words, but will help you find essential ones like : 'how','can','what','where', etc.
Everything is transcribed for complete beginners. There's no IPA, only equivalent (or close) sounds in English.
All essential phrases are there and everything that is missing, can be composed by a reader intelligent enough.

Great little thing.

I was trying to learn Norwegian and found this a very helpful reference book. I think some enterprising person could produce an effective one year introductory course in Norwegian, based entirely on this excellent book

Having lived in Norway for 4 years and being married to a Norwegian, the book is OK but is abit outdated with the terms used, for example for saying "Goodbye" in a casual term the book still uses the term "Adjo" where as this is rarely used, with most people saying "hadet". But for a leisure traveller to Norway the guide covers many good areas.
