If you want to gain an insight into the Finnish language this little pocket book is a perfect start. All the most common words can be found and besides there's also a little phrase book with all the useful sentences you need.

Took this dictionary to Finland with me where my native Finnish friends looked through it and concluded it was a mixture of Estonian and Bulgarian. Many of the words are Finnish but I did not find it accurate enough to translate a single page of a leaflet. I certainly wouldn't recomend it to anyone.

I bought the Swedish and the Finnish versions. This is just what I hoped it would be, and more. It is the size of a packet of cigarettes but contains so much information. Apart from the dictionary, which is sufficient for carrying around in your pocket and communicating most things, there is a short grammar section, small useful phrases section, abbreviations... Really useful for everyday on-the-road use. Leave all the huge heavy reference books at home and carry this neat little cream of the crop around with you like a manual memory stick.
