'hard-hitting new cruise guide' Bev Fearis, www.travelmole.com, 22nd Sept 2010

Product Description

Berlitz is proud to welcome the 2011 edition of Cruising and Cruise Ships, now in its 26th year of publication. Internationally recognised as the definitive cruise guide and the best-selling guide to cruising in the UK, this book is written by cruise-guru, Douglas Ward, the world's most highly regarded expert on cruising. It is the only source of independent star-rating for ocean-going cruise ships worldwide. Authoritative and unashamedly frank, it has one single aim: to help you identify the cruise that is right for you. Fully revised and updated for 2011, it features hard-hitting, ship-by-ship reviews of 285 cruise ships, including Oasis of the Seas, the biggest cruise ship ever launched. At-a-glance charts compare the major cruise lines for cabin facilities, food and service. Other practical advice covers what to look for in a ship and crew, along with top tips on how to get the best value for money. So whether you are travelling solo, honeymooners, with children, or require special assistance, this guide will find the perfect ship to suit you. The internationally recognised ratings system is broken down proportionally to the areas of Ship, Accommodation, Food, Service, Entertainment and Cruise, so you can see how each rating breaks down, helping you to make an informed choice. Full-colour photography throughout will bring the cruise experience to life, before you even step aboard. The practical information section at the back of the book highlights key areas of interest, such as safety on board, the carbon footprint involved with travelling on a cruise, booking and budgeting and what to expect once onboard. Whether it is your first or fiftieth cruise, this essential guide will answer all your questions in detail, leaving you more time to enjoy your cruise.

For anyone contemplating a cruise, or who has already experienced a cruise this volume is a "must buy". The coverage is comprehensive, and if the ship/yacht which you are considering is not in the book it is not worth going aboard! The detailed assessment (RATING) given to every cruising ship is formidable, and extremely succint without overlooking any relatively important aspect of the ship,eg the service, the food the entertainment, the general decor, the suites themselves; and what is included in terms of cost etc. Absolutely essential as a reference book par excellence; and wruitten with in an attractive style.
This is the bible of the cruising world, anjd thoroughly to be recommended.

A great book written by a very knowledgeable writer. Will be a great resource for all things cruising over the next year. Remember to register for updates by emailing the address on page 720. Even better to get it cheaper than recommended price from Amazon.

The Cruisers Bible 30 Nov 2010
By jb
Format:Paperback
As a regular cruiser I have been buying this book for many years.
It is extremely accurate and I always read up on the ships before and after cruising to check.
What Douglas Ward doesn't know about cruise ships isn't worth knowing.
