A Classic 3 season walking boot. This all-round boot is designed with all terrains and conditions in mind. The Italian engineered upper features high quality suede, woven mesh and a Gore Tex lining. The Aylum rubber and PU outsole unit delivers excellent grip and durability. Berghaus explorer trek bought at the end of April this year (2009) comfortable straight from the box however showed signs of wear very quickly in October one boot started to let in water and felt as if the sole was cracked.They were returned to Berghaus who expressed concern over the excess wear on the sole but agreed to replace the boots.I am light on my footwear my last boots (Moac) are still going strong after 15 plus years,my feeling is that Berghaus have sacrificed long life for comfort..but if you are happy with a short life from your boots then these are OK

I bought a pair of these - through Amazon - in the summer of 2009. Through the summer they were great - comfortable, good grip and waterproof. However, within 10 months of daily use walking the dogs over gentle farmland and tracks, both boots had cracked on the inner edge about the level of the second lace hole (where there is a seam)and were letting in water - even when walking through dewy grass. I am unhappy about the quality as I don't believe that a pair of Berghaus boots at £100 should wear out in under a year of moderate use.
I note that the latest version has no seam in that place now - so perhaps they have upgraded the design.
Mine do not act as a good advert for Berghaus and I will think hard before buying them again.

Bought mine from a shop as I don't believe you should be buying boots without trying them on and walking in them.
These are incredibly comfortable and require little or no breaking in. I've had no issues with them not being waterproof either.
I've been up Scafell, Snowdon, Cheviot and Ben Nevis in them as well as having walked about 200 miles in all weather and they were excellent at all times - the additional cushioned sole helped on the descents as well.
The only minor gripe would be they are not fantastic on smooth wet rock as the sole is quite soft. I wouldn't have them down as a 10 year pair either (probably 3-5 depending on usage), but I guess they're priced about at that level.

Excellent product!
I would buy these boots again they are great.Very light.Both myself and my husband have then and we have never had sore feet or blisters.

Berghaus Men's Explorer Trek Hiking Boot
These boots are out of this world, they are so comfortable you don't want to take them off! I would recommend them to anyone.
