Bergerac, Eighth Series
We were treated to 11 episodes in this series, including the now obligatory Christmas Special. We begin with the death of his long-standing estate agent girlfriend, Susan. There's an exciting episode featuring the Customs and Excise boys, a mystery surrounding an archaeological dig, and Bergerac meets a new companion, the beautiful Danielle Aubrey, when he travels to France to solve the murder of a French private detective in Charlie Hungerford's house, no less. Bergerac makes a couple more trips to the mainlands - France and England - on other cases in other episodes. Good family entertainment without the sex, swearing and bloodshed that are usual these days; fascinating stories well acted and produced. In fact, like fine wine, the series has improved in quality as it has aged.
