1.0 out of 5 stars What I Think, 16 Jul 2004
By G W Farmer (Ripley nr Woking, Surrey United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I have always admired "The Best Car in the World" as Rolls-Royce so eloquently describe their motorcars. Not sure why, but I have, it's a fact. So I went looking for some reading material on the current generation of cars from Crewe.

In the Brooklands Portfolio I found a veritable Aladdin's Cave of interesting information, much of it in colour, on both Rolls-Royce and their Bentley cousins. The book neatly traces through some superbly written articles by people like John Simister, Peter Dron, David Vivian and Dennis Simanaitis the lineage of both marques. Bonus! For Rolls that includes the Silver Spirit, Corniche, Flying Spur and Silver Seraph while for the Bentley team there are the Turbo R, Continental R and T, the SC, Azure, Arnage and the Red Label cars.

Not only are the articles well written but they are illustrated by some brilliant photography. I was particilarly taken with an article titled "Power and the Glory" in CAR written by Richard Bremner about the then new Silver Seraph. The other story that stood out (for me) was about the Corniche derivative of the Silver Seraph in Autocar and written by Colin Goodwin.

There are 320 pages of enjoyable reading here making the price a bargain. Another welcome addition to my library
