Product Description

Fresh from its win for Best Comedy at the National TV Awards, Benidorm is back! Expect the unexpected with more outrageous fun in the sun for the Solana regulars and some new faces too!

Gavin has returned to the Solana but this year without Troy. Instead he’s brought with him his deliciously camp employee from back home, Kenneth. But will his appetite for the all- you –can- eat buffet and his taste in colourful hot pants prove too much for Gavin?

There’s cross-dressing confusion at the poolside bar with Les, whose son Liam has arrived in Spain, determined to find a holiday romance. Donald and Jacqueline, Benidorm’s King and Queen of the swingers, are back and always looking to make new friends by the pool.

So, kick off your flip flops, and enjoy a slice of life on the Costa Del Comedy!

2.0 out of 5 stars Lame Characters / Lame scripts 9 Oct 2012
Format:DVD
Having enjoyed series 1 to 3 of Benidorm I looked forward to series 4, but oh, what a disappointment! Half of the cast had obviously bailed out after series 3 and the newcomers were about as funny as toothache.
Liam, the son of (Les/Lesley) was depicted by the script as being slow and dimwitted. He was irritating, unfunny and a pain in the neck.
Natalie and Sam, the two new girls in the series, were only two dimential characters who added nothing new or interesting to the episodes.
Pauline, the sister of Geoff, seemed to be permanently drunk throughout and was another character who failed to instill anything funny into the series.
Kenneth, a colleague of Troy and Gavin, was just another unsuitable stand in for Troy.
The Garvey's held the whole thing together but even they sounded jaded and repetitive.
Series 5 will require more imagination from the writer and more talent from the actors.

I didn't start watching Benidorm until the christmas special was on tv,but ever since then i have watched and bought all the series, the reason i love this show is everytime i watch it i laugh and on ocassions have cried, very sad when mel died, there isn't many programmes that make me laugh everytime i watch them and believe me i watch this alot and never get bored with it,Derren Litten the writer is brilliant and i hope he continues with this series,i loved Johnny Vegas in it,the only character i didn't like was Liam, when series 4 started i couldnt get into it mainly because it had changed with new characters,i cant wait for this to come out on dvd and series 5 and 6 and 7........

2.0 out of 5 stars Benidorm 4 1 Sep 2012

By comparison, this series was lame, barely a moment of chuckling and downright ridiculous at times. I hope series 5 picks up and that no 4 was just a blip as we have enjoyed Benidorm up until this point.

4.0 out of 5 stars Benidorm - Complete Series 4 (DVD) 2 Jan 2012
Format:DVD
At first it is difficult to get used to several new characters as you keep comparing to the high standards of the first 3, however I have increased my star rating from 3 to 4 after watching the complete DVD. It really is quite clever. Michael has grown into his part and is now a good little actor. The addition of Les' one time butler as the cross dressing, roller skating barman adds to the poolside mayhem as does 2 new spunky girls chased by the nerdy son of the cross dressing barman. The series has probably run it's course but if your a Benidorm fan then this is not as disappointing as some reviews make out.

This is another brillant for Benidorm Series 4 written and produced by the lovely Writer Derren Litten on DVD and it is a must see for all the family such a wonderful series and it is great for making everyone from young to old laugh and be suprised at the antics of the characters like Madge and the Garvey family to Mateo that appear in Benidorm it is lovely to see the story of all the characters and what happens whilst they are on holiday. I have been a fan of every episode of Benidorm and look forwarding to seeing the next series of Series 5 of Benidorm air on television in 2012 and await for that series to appear on DVD too.

It's rare for my wife and I to both share the same view of any comedy, but we've both been watching this every night for the last week, some episodes several times over. There are not many comedies that you can watch time and time again and still fall about laughing (with the possible exception of "Fawlty Towers" or "Airplane"), but this is one of them. I'm simply amazed not to have heard of the writer, Darren Litten, before...but watch out Richard Curtis!

Whoever did the casting is a genius; I've never had much time for Johnny Vegas, but he excels in his role here. There's not a single weak link in the casting of the characters.

My wife and I have differing views on the cameraman's attention to female cleavages, but it's a bonus for me!

I've just had the Christmas Special delivered from Amazon today, and can't wait to get home.

3.0 out of 5 stars Law of diminishing returns for Series 4 8 Aug 2011
Format:DVD
Series 4 just about scrapes by on the charm of the lead characters and the goodwill the show has built up amongst it's devotees. Cilla Black's cameo as a wealthy swinger in Episode 1 is priceless! Unfortunately Series 4 suffers from a weak script, lack of jokes and some new two dimensional characters who (with the exception of Troy's replacement) aren't funny or likeable. Much of the humour seems forced with jokes you can see coming a mile off. Like most long-running sitcoms Benidorm is suffering from the law of diminishing returns and is no longer "must see" viewing. I bought the first 3 series on DVD but no desire to watch this one again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Let the Solana frolicks continue! 29 Nov 2011
By CJ1980
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The long awaited series four of Benidorm finally arrived back on our screens early in 2011 hot on the heels of a Christmas special that had ended on a bit of a cliffhanger.

This series comprising six 50 minute episodes brings the series back into it's usuall fold. The transission between the third and four series saw some significant cast changes. This series sees the introduction of several new characters who really do prove their worth by the end of the series.

The cross dressing Les/Lesley Marshall is given a bar job at the Solana and we are introduced to his dimwitted son Liam (Adam Gillen) who spends most of the series trying to impress newcomers Natalie Jones (Kathryn Drysdale) and Sam Wood (Shelley Longworth) - two 20 something girls who are enjoying a bit of carefree fun in the sun at the Solana. Gavin Ramsbottom returns to the Solana after his absence in the Christmas special - this time round accompanied by his overweight equally camp hairdressing employee Kenneth (played by the excellent Tony Maudsley). Troy is absent most of the series but returns in the final episode to be reunited with Gavin after the death of his father. Probably the best of the new characters is Noreen Maltby's new holiday companion - her divorcee daughter Pauline (Geoff's sister) who comes across as a no-nonsense humourless woman. However it is not long before Pauline's weakness is revealed - she is an alcoholic, the fact that their stay is in an all inclusive hotel leads to some ammusing scenes.

As always - the Garveys, the Stewarts, Janey York & Mateo all return again.

This series also sees a few famous faces pop up including Cilla Black, Melvin Hayes and Denise Welsh (as the excellent Scary Mary).

Another excellent series of Benidorm.
