Product Description

Size Name: 24" | Style Name: USB2.0, DP, speakers

Product Description

Designed with ergonomic features to boost your work comfort and productivity, the BL2410PT is the ideal choice for any workstation. Tailor-made to improve office workers' health, comfort and work productivity in mind, the BL2410PT boasts a sharp, robust look that calls for solid performance and efficiency. Yet a hollow neck design that keeps cords and cables organised and a base stand featuring a storage tray cleverly balance solemnity with ease of use and comfort. A matte finish further provides users a glare-free viewing experience.

The Reading Mode recreates the comfortable experience of reading actual books by adjusting the monitor's colour temperature and brightness, as well as balancing its contrast ratio and sharpness, to simulate the look of paperback paper. The high contrast ratio characteristic of the VA panel enables this upgraded feature to maintain high text clarity at low screen brightness settings, without irritating your eyes. In turn, this helps reduce the risk of computer eye strain caused by prolonged and focused use of eyes on computer monitors. An extensive range of monitor adjustments – height, tilt, pivot, stroke and swivel – tailors to your distinct build and viewing habits. Ambient light levels are automatically detected to help adjust the monitor brightness throughout the day for optimised clarity and viewing comfort. The Smart Reminder gently reminds users to take a break in a predefined time interval. The breaks not only keep users' eyes comfortable and healthy, but also ensure desirable productivity.

While this monitor has been reviewed extensively by tftcentral and prad (in German), here is my own perspective after a couple of weeks of ownership

    Positives:
    - Good pixel pitch, comparable to 24" monitors
    - Good coverage of the sRGB color space or Rec 709 once calibrated. Screen calibrates very well at 120 lumen/m^2, with either D65 or D50 white points and gives smooth gradients, using the User color preset
    - 10 bit panel, possibly via 8bits + dithering, which makes a visible difference for my uses (photo editing with pro video card and 10 bit software such as photoshop), but probably of limited use to most
    - Great contrast for an LCD panel, light coating -somewhere between matte and glossy.

    BenQ BL2710PT

This monitor was bought as a replacement for a AOC Q2770Pqu monitor that I had bought from Amazon. In fact I had two of the AOC monitors, which were both returned for excessive IPS glow and back light bleed.
This monitor arrived and I was most impressed with the solidity of the build quality and the strength and rigidity of the stand. No wobbly monitor when hitting the keys etc.
The stand extends vertically and allows rotation and pivoting of the screen to suit most angles. I like the design feature of it which allows the cables to be passed through its centre hole to retain them together neatly.
The screen itself is beautiful to view. With its semi matte finish it is great to use in daylight, without the need to close curtains, and yet the colour saturation and depths of blacks is a joy to see.
The USB ports seem to function fine and are easily accessible on the side of the monitor.
The proximity sensitive control buttons are a bit naff, not being sensitive enough to detect the on and off selection being common to this monitor. It is not a major issue it just takes a "positive" action to turn it on and off. But I soon forget about this as my monitor remains in standby when not in use.
There is an automated function for the monitor to detect a seated user and then switch off when that person is no longer detected, well either it scans right through me or it has been poorly implemented.! Needless to say that function remains off.
The on-screen controls are a joy to use and are not confusing in the least. Their navigation is simplistic and provides all the settings that you should need to get a great colour reproduction from the screen.

For years I've been wanting a single monitor which reproduces the two 17" screen setup that is commonplace at work. My previous 24" Benq 1200p monitor was always missing half the screen space of the second screen, and when the DVI input refused to work properly with more modern graphics cards and laptops, it was well on the way to obsolescence.

With 30" monitors being historically prohibitively expensive, and the newer 4k monitors tempting eye-strain, the 2560x1440 resolution that the 32" BL3200PT offers kept the dot pitch the same as my old 24" monitor, whilst offering increased screen space for work.

I kept with the Benq brand in the hope of similar reliability, and for the variety of inputs it provided. The first thing I noticed is that it's heavy. The monitor stand is solid, easy to assemble (twist and lock) and the panel just slots in to the lugs on the stand backplate.
The inputs (HDMI, DP, DVI and VGA) are on the right hand side, a variety of 1.5m cables are provided (which I found a bit short to reach under the desk), along with a 3.5mm audio cable to supply the built in 5w speakers, several power cables, USB cable for the hub and a mini USB cable for the circular controller that sits in the monitor stand bezel (which I found too short to use if you sit more than an arm's length away).

Firing it up, it's certainly impressive - no dead pixels, or visibly uneven areas of brightness, but I'm not a perfectionist in terms of colour reproduction. The new LED VA panel technology looks like a cost effective alternative to the IPS panels, and it's quite responsive - I fired up a few games to check for ghosting, but my old eyes couldn't tell.
