This review is from: Ben Caunt: The Nottinghamshire Bare-knuckle Boxer Who Became Champion of England (Paperback)
This is the story of the life and fights of Ben Caunt who was the bareknuckle champion of England between 1841 and 1845 from his early fights in Hucknall Torkard in Nottinghamshire to his final resting place in the same town.

In between each major fight is captured in detail including how he won and controversially lost the title. It covers other 'out of the ordinary' events including his visit to America, taking the championship belt with him, and the horrific fire at his inn in London, the Coach and Horses, which claimed the lives of two of his children.

Hopefully, it captures a taste of life of a bareknuckle boxer in the middle of the nineteenth century - rough, tough and bloody.
