4.0 out of 5 stars Vastly exceeded expectations 25 Mar 2009

Durability: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I saw this reduced when I was browsing for Ben10 merchandise for my 5 yr old's birthday. I didn't expect too much, there were 2 reviews at that time and both over 4 star but neither shed much light on what this game was actually all about.

My little boy had this opened and was playing within minutes. It's kind of a plastic hollow case with holes in the top that you poke in little cards (with Ben10 Alien pictures on them) on stands. There is then a gun to slot in at either end that you fill with little balls. When you pull the trigger the balls fire into the case and hit little levers attached to the cards. When you get a direct hit the little cards fly into the air (it's very satisfying) and are out of play.

As the balls are all fired into the case it's a fairly tidy game. I have to admit my heart sank when I saw all the little balls but actually only a few go astray and you can afford to lose quite a few and still be able to play the game fine.

So me and my little boy fire manically at each other, reloading when necc - the discarded balls roll into a tray by the gun - and in theory the first one to pop all the other players cards off the case is the winner. In practice he is always the winner no matter how fab I am at this game, but that's 5 years old for you.

One reviewer states that the triggers are hard to press. It's true that my 2 year old can't press them but my 5 year old has no problem at all. It's actually one of the few games we can all play together though as M enjoyed collecting all the balls up and refilling the guns. We call her our "Ammo Replenishment Officer" :) Thumbs up for this game for us and we have never seen anything like it before. Very clever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but flawed 21 Jan 2009
    By Rog.
Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The downsides of this game are that the triggers on the guns are very stiff for little fingers, and that each game is over very quickly. You could play slowly, and try to use some skill to hit each target, but by doing so your opponent will beat you every time by just blasting away. It does seem to be fairly well made, and is fun for a couple of quick games, but I can't see it keeping a child interested for too long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kids love it!! 12 May 2009
    By Louise
Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I admit that the triggers are a bit stiff, but my 4 year old can manage them ok. And yes, the game is slightly pointless and over very quickly as pointed out by other reviewers, but that's half the fun. If you want to make it last longer you can play it slightly differently and take it in turns to take an aimed shot, but the kids would much rather just repeatedly fire until the aliens have all been thrown in the air!! My brothers are both in their 20s, and enjoy getting competitive playing it with them too, and my 4 year old even plays it on his own while my 7 year old is at school - just shoots the pieces down, turns it around and then does the other side. They also sometimes compete to see who can make the aliens jump up the highest. For Ben 10 fans this is a great game!

Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this game for my 4 year old nephew,he loved it. It was easy to set up and geat for for both him and the adults. It was a little hard for him to pull the triggers at first but they soon loosened up and he played it for ages. Great game for 4plus but easy to loose the marbles.

I bought this game for my Son's 5th birthday and he was really excited. He played with it on the day and then for a few days after but it's obviously a game that needs 2 players and his older brother isn't interested at all!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is great fun for grown ups as well 4 Jun 2009

This is perfect for a seven years old boy. Lots of fun, triger is a bit hard, so children under5 will struggle I guess. Aim to target, shoot, and see how aliens fly away. Sometimes some balls jump away, but it will be 2 or 3 in each battle, not a big deal, all the shooting happen under see through plastic, so quite tidy I think. Cons: bit bulky to put away.

Two easy loading ball shooters and a covered game play area and a tray where the balls end up for re-loading.

I bought this toy for my son's best friend's birthday present and it has had a lot of air time with a 7 year old Ben 10 fan. Every time my son goes to his house they play the toy for ages and when they tire of it I play it with his mum! The balls are quite small so I wouldn't recommend for 3 years old or below but 4 and above will love it. Play the game somewhere where the balls can fly around without losing them though. The balls do tend to vacate the covered area from time to time. Also, don't be too rough with the shooting controllers as they can detach themselves during heated play!

Overall a must for Ben10 fans.

The six year old for whom this toy was bought loves it. It's easy to use, fairly robust and the balls do not spill all over the place as they are contained in the unit. A big hit!
