This review is from: Ben 10 Monster In Line Scooter (Toy)
We bought this for our son's 5th birthday after he begged us as all his friends had them. It looks great and he loves the monsters but be warned that 1) it is VERY heavy for a young child; 2) it rattles really loudly when you are riding it because of the empty drawer and (most importantly) 3) it CANNOT COPE WITH PAVEMENT BUMPS. My son rode it to school and we had to stop every few yards because the drawer kept springing open every time he went over a slight bump or rise in the pavement. This is because the drawer is very low to the ground and has only a very small catch to hold it in which gets bounced out very easily. This is really dangerous as it kept hitting him on the 'pushing' leg and twice caused him to fall off. And it took us ten times longer to get to school than normal! We have now taped the drawer shut but it is still really annoyingly loud and also impractical because it keeps scraping on the ground if you have dips in the pavement (i.e. for driveways) or a bumpy surface like cobbles or bricks. It turns out all his friends' ones have the same problem so none of them are really using them except around the house. All us mums are rather annoyed at having spent so much for something so useless!

Expensive, heavy, noisy!, 23 Mar 2009

My son was over the moon to receive this from Father Christmas December 2008. It seemed worth the expense and trouble to get as he loved the hidden aliens in the drawer and the fact it was Ben 10.
Within days he'd lost alien toys from the drawer underneath which kept springing open.
The scooter is unbelievably heavy and was terrible for him to make the journey to school on. His brothers on lighter scooters were way ahead of him and he got so tired before even getting to the playground.
The rattling noise it made was incredible and made people in the street turn round in horror at what could approaching them from behind! The noise was so bad that he would not hear me calling for him to stop eg if car was reversing close by. So therefore it was dangerous as no warnings could be given and drowned out conversation.
We had to tape the drawer shut to reduce (but not prevent entirely) the noise. This may be fun as a toy to play with outside the house and show off to friends but not at all practical for proper scootering any distance. Far too heavy, noisy and expensive. I would avoid if possible.

I really don't have a clue what the fuss some parents have made over the scooter. My son received it on 5th birthday as present from godmother. No problems he had out grown old scooter Thomas. This has kept him quiet fits in car, walks with it to park, hidden place for toys made his day and mine. Isn't cheap to buy but then any Ben10 toys out there now aren't as he's the in thing.
