Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

It's very rare that a presenter and the subject of a video are so compelling that the cheap, shoddy filming is forgotten. Belly Fit, featuring British belly dancer Jacqueline Chapman, is one of these unique examples. The dated suburban cover (think Alison Steadman in Abigail's Party), the English park introductory setting, the tacky fake Middle Eastern set, the gaudy styling, and the terrible sound quality might signify disaster. However, Chapman's exquisitely lithe body transcends the lot, luring the viewer into a fabulous experience.

Though it's sold as a work-out which tones the waist, hips, thighs, abdomen, as well as improving stamina and flexibility, unlike most dance-based fitness videos this provides excellent instruction on the dance form itself. Chapman has the ability to teach in a concise yet precise manner, demonstrating each figure first, illustrating the technique, and then repeating accordingly. The use of breathing, the emphasis on posture and the constant hip movements combined with the discipline of isolating the top part of the body, all contribute to a slow yet dynamic toning session. The fact that this is also a lesson in a sensual art form, with a choreographed piece to learn at the end, is more than a bonus. It provides the motivation needed to do this again and again, in order to master the form. --Lorna V

This review is from: Belly Dancing-a Fitness Guide [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video has come up trumps for ease of explanation of moves and shows them well.I have several belly dance tapes more expensive than this one, and this has proven to be the best of all. Well done, I have recommended this to all who are intrested in belly dancing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stylish Middle Eastern dance video for the beginner., 10 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Belly Dancing-a Fitness Guide [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is a good introduction to Middle Eastern dance. The combined explanations and demonstrations of the moves build up into a complete routine. They will also enable you to choreograph your own dances. The uncluttered video techniques allow the beginner to concentrate, although the sound quality could occasionally be clearer. Jacqueline Chapman, in elegantly flowing outfits, is an inspired mover and a charming teacher. This is stylish stuff. The video is cheap in price but certainly not in content. So do yourself a favour. Put on the video, learn a new way to dance and get "Bellyfit".

I have wanted to take up belly dancing for ages and was not sure which video was the best. I found it in this one. I was tired when I finished, but happy with my efforts! I knew what muscles I had used!
