I did not enjoy this book well enough to give it 5 stars, although it was okay to wile away a few idle moments. I didn't really feel there was a good connection between the two main characters and found the whole thing a bit predictable - along the lines of been there, done that.

This was really not for me. Felt very fifties in a lot of ways. I am glad I didn't pay a lot for it. In all fairness I commend the fact that it was well written so am happy to award it two stars, rather than the miserable one I originally gave it.

Interesting Read 11 Dec. 2012
By LAS Reviewer - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Even if I had not read the front of the book, I would have known this was a Harlequin Romance. It had a solid plot and characters and a standard crisis. In this case, our characters are Bella and Dominic.

Bella, presents as the "flighty" daughter of the business owner. She is out to please her dad and prove once and for all that she is worthy of his love and a place in his company. Dominic is the young executive. He is hard working, and making a positive impression on his boss, Bella's dad. Because he is a trusted employee, and gets results, he is entrusted with the project on which Dad places Bella. Because Dominic is determined "not to become his father", he is very firm with Bella and refuses to see her creative side as an asset to the project.

As with all good Harlequins, they are thrown together. In this case, the company only has one apartment available to house the both of them during the project. This means they need to learn to work together. Oh, yes - there is also the addition of a cat.

They become accustomed to living and working together, each finding some good in each other until the crisis occurs, and changes the nature of the business and the working relationship.

As the crisis resolves, a new relationship occurs and we find the characters working towards the happily ever after.

Even though the story is basically laid out above, the beauty is in the details. For those of us with wanderlust, the story is set in Australia. But even with that, the story did not seem foreign. The aforementioned cat adds an interesting twist. Bella and Dominic aren't all that they seem.

Speaking of Bella and Dominic. . . Bella, although she is constantly trying to get her father to approve of her, is an intelligent young woman. She knows what she wants to do, even though it isn't necessarily something of which she feels Dad will approve.

Dominic, on the other hand, is fairer than he first appears. He never becomes the wishy-washy hero that has fallen in love, but again, does not remain the tough-as-nails boss who never shows his feelings until the very end. In that respect, he seems more real to this reader.

There is also a fair amount of humor added throughout. It added humanity to the characters and allows the reader to continue on!

In all, this story was exactly as promised - an enjoyable read. No twists and turns, but enough individuality in the characters to make the reading worthwhile.

This is a sweet read about Dominic, a self made man who is stuck with the boss's daughter. Bella is a passionate and lovely young woman who is struggling to come to terms with a period of her life where she felt she failed her father.

Thrown together to launch an iconic hotel, the two are oil and water. Virginal Bella is the last person commitment phobic Dominic should find attractive. But Iceman Dominic is intrigued by the vibrancy and overflowing joy in life in the young woman. His own life is flat and wants a piece of what she's got.

Both hero and heroine have flaws and past history and it is lovely to see them helping each other work through their issues. It was a nice story and a satisfying ending.

I did struggle with this book in the first half, the characters were slow to engage me. Once I got halfway through it picked up a little. A nice holiday read with only a touch of angst and sizzle.

BELLA'S IMPOSSIBLE BOSS by author Michelle Douglas is released from Harlequin Romance series.

Bella Maldini's father drops the bombshell upon Dominic and her that they were to work together on a project. Dominic wants to refuse as he remembered her father despairing about his daughter's abilities. But he believed Bella to be capricious and unable to perform her duties.
But still he felt drawn toward her. Would they manage to do what they set out to do?

BELLA'S IMPOSSIBLE BOSS is delightfully fast-paced and feel-good romance that sparkles with mesmerizing emotion and intense passion. The witty dialogue between the Dominic and Bella is hilarious. Author Michelle Douglas captured my heart with this superbly written story

I enjoyed the book but at the same time thought it lacked passion and initiative from the main characters. I would've enjoyed reading more conversations between them then with themselves. I did find it funny and romantic.

Bella's Impossible Boss by Michelle Douglas
4 STARS Bella Maldini has come to help her father build his dream restraunt. She wants to make her father so proud of her. Bella knows she let her father down time after time. She knows she can do it. Things are not getting off to a great start though she is running late. Left some papers down in the kitchen and the file of information she needed to make a plan was not sent to her till last night and to top it off the meeting started 15 minutes earlier than she was told. Dominic Wright was put in charge of the new hotel. Now he is told that the boss wants his unskilled daughter to be in charge of the restraunt. She has had no experience working to make it work. Dominic had overcome his dads acholism and his many marriages. he owed Marco Maldini so much he does not want to let her father dream down. He does not want to work with Bella and tries to show him that she is not up to heading the restraunt. Both Bella and Dominic have emotional issues to workout at the same time they have to work together. Instead of having their own apartment they are in a love nest suite together. One room bright pink and the other so bland. Bella also brought her friend's spoiled cat with her to take care of. Bella and Dominic are oposites she is a virgin and he sleeps around and does not get involved. Bella is full of life, Dominic life has gotten dull, bland. I like Bella that she is willing to work hard to make her father's dream happen. Dominic has some great qualties too, when he realizes that he was wrong about something he tries to make up for it. This is a nice quick read, some tempting scenes but they do not go to far. I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest review by Netgalley. 10/02/2012 PUB Harlequin
